If you've come to see us before, you'll probably recognize Adriannah! As one of our wonderful Administrative Assistants, she may be the first friendly face you see when you come in for your session. Adriannah understands that it can be difficult to put yourself out there and try counselling, so it's very important to her that our clients feel safe and comfortable here.... Many of our clients say that A Holding Place is like a home away from home for them. It's a place where they feel relaxed and safe and can really open upand our amazing team is a big part of what makes that possible.

We thought Monday morning would be the perfect time to introduce you to our wonderful Administrative Assistant, Maggie! She makes sure our clients feel comfortable and welcome when they come to see us. One of the things our clients love most about Maggie is her positive attitude and helpful nature. An interesting fact about Maggie? She was born in South Africa and lived there until she was 4!... In addition to working with us, Maggie is completing her Bachelor of Social Work at Memorial University. She also loves spending time with her two adorable wiener dogs, Penelope and Amelia. Maggie has been with us for 5 years and we are so happy to have her on our team.

Have you heard of play therapy? Young children often find it difficult to put their feelings into words. Play therapy gives them the opportunity to express themselves in a way they can understand, while working through their issues with a trained clinician.... As Garry Landreth says, "in the play therapy experience, toys are like the child's words, and play is the child's language". Our clinicians have been offering play therapy through their virtual sessions and it's been going really well! Children feel comfortable being in their own space and get excited about using their own toys during play. If you think your child would benefit from play therapy, you can book directly with our clinicians here: https://aholdingplace.ca/

Did you know that 1 in 5 Canadians live with arthritis? Living with a chronic condition like arthritis can affect your day-to-day life in many ways. Most people with arthritis experience chronic pain, fatigue, and restricted movement. Symptoms like these can certainly affect your mood and your mental health.... We often have people come in for help and support as they learn to cope with their chronic pain. No one understands arthritis better than those who live with it everyday, including our owner, Helen, who was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. September is Arthritis Awareness Month in Canada and we wanted to help bring attention to the millions of Canadians living with arthritis every day. We've made a donation to the Arthritis Society Research Stars Fund to help invest in the future of Canadian arthritis research. Right now, all donations are matched dollar-for-dollar!
