Five Things You Need To Know about Commonwealth Stadium Shelter from the City of Edmonton. 1. In partnership with Hope Mission, the City is moving ahead with 24/7 operations on Thursday, November 12, in response to increased demand for indoor accommodations and services for Edmonton’s most vulnerable. They expect the operation at Commonwealth Stadium will continue until March 2021. 2. The stadium will provide day and night sleeping options for vulnerable people experiencing h...omelessness, meal service, and access to social services. Visitors will be bused from the Hope Mission’s downtown facility, though some may travel on their own by foot or transit. The intake process includes registration, COVID-19 screening, and storage of belongings. 3. The City, in partnership with Hope Mission, will be creating a good neighbour plan including information about operations and guidance for how to address non-emergency concerns. This plan will be shared with us and posted on edmonton.ca/homelessness, where individuals will also be able to sign up for a mailing list to receive updates. 4. The City will continue to support the security and prosperity of community partners, business owners, schools, and area residents. They understand and acknowledge that you may have questions or concerns about security and cleanliness in our areas and they are doing what they can to alleviate these issues. 5. Report any concerns to 311 and call 211 for the 24/7 Crisis Diversion Team when you encounter someone in a crisis situation. Any incidents of crime should be reported to the Edmonton Police Service either through 911 in an emergency or the non-emergency line at 780-423-4567. Visit edmonton.ca/homelessness for information and updates on the City’s ongoing response to encampments and edmonton.ca/affordablehousing for more information on how the City is working to create permanent housing solutions.

Congratulations to our friends Arts on the Ave, and AABA Board member Christy Morin, on the great reveal of the new WALKING FIGURES installation, a presentation by Arts on the Ave, Vancouver Biennale, and TELUS. Walking Figures is part of a series of artworks on loan from the Vancouver Biennale to Arts on the Ave as part of their efforts to transform the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood into a community arts district. They are located at the TELUS building on Alberta Avenue at 118th avenue and 89th street.
