I asked god to help me grow, and it started raining. Trust the process. Lately I have thought very negatively surrounding my injury, with the limitations its given me, the missed shows, and the stress of having no income til Im back riding. Im realizing now the blessings that have came because of it. Before my injury I was managing, cleaning, training, giving lessons, and to be real honest with you, I was burnt out, I was exhausted, and there was no light at the end of t...he tunnel, but I was too proud to ask for help. Since the injury, Weve hired an extremely good barn manager, and an amazing stall cleaner. Which makes me so excited to get back to training, as I will be able to focus on just training, lessons, and clients. Im now thinking of this time off as a much needed vacation. Its given me time to organize, clean, and go through my tack, A much needed mental break, and time to think about new tips and tricks, time to goal set, and my appreciation back as to how much of an honour it is for my to swing my leg over a horse each and every day. Yesterday I got the opportunity to give the local 4-h club a showmanship lesson. which brought back so many memories, and I am so grateful I got to give back to an organization that shaped who I am today. When I joined 4-h at 9 yrs old, I was very shy, I didnt have many friends, I wouldnt go anywhere without my mom. I had never groomed my horse beyond brushing or picking his hoofs. I definitely couldnt tell you any of the parts of the horse, and I had never been to any typ...e of horse show..... Thank you for teaching me how to be responsible, and mature as my horses relied on me to feed, clean, water, and completely look after them, before myself. My club members relied on me to be organized, helpful, dedicated and attentive. Thank you for teaching people skills, whether it was public speaking, demonstrations, club meetings, volunteering or having to reach out to the public at fairs. Thank you for giving me life long friends, and memories to cherish, most of my best friends today, are the ones I met through 4-h, and my fondest memories revolve around fairs, club fundraisers, and horse shows. Thank you for giving me role models, and teaching me how to be a role model, that you need to be careful what you say and how you act, as there is always someone who looks up to you. Thank you for giving me the skills to be a trainer today, 4-h took me from being a kid that had no clue how to do showmanship, or ride English, or even ride western properly, to a kid that showed the breed circuit confidently without a trainer holding my hand by the age of 14, as 4-h gave me the skills to prepare myself and my horse, and how to know when I should be ready for my class. Thank you for shaping who I am today, This industry puts so much pressure on these equine athletes, and I can proudly say 4-h allowed my program to be different as I learnt from a young age that your horses mental health comes before anything, and no ribbon or title is worth hurting these animals. I believe that how we treat our animals out of the show pen, will make all the differences the show pen. As owners its our responsibility to keep these athletes feeling there absolute best, Whether its taking time to acknowledge that these are animals with feelings, who want to feel loved, or sports therapy treatment. Personally Ive noticed a huge difference in foster after her magna wave therapy sessions, its improved her performance under saddle immensely, as well as ...when she perks up and gets so excited to see Larissa I know its making an impact to her mental health.
