One year ago... The early winter of 2018, I took part in my first market! & oh wow, was I ever experiencing mixed feelings. ... The night before the market I stayed awake until 2am working away (perfecting) each piece - waking up at 6am to make final touches. The weeks beforehand had brought feelings of excitement, success, and optimism. However, on the day of the market I had been feeling the very opposite - self doubt, failure, unworthiness. It was frightening! Each day being creative you pour yourself into a piece, your very own art, and then for the first time you go to sell your work the feelings of judgement pour into you. Does my table look okay? How should I rearrange my pieces? Am I looking amateur? There were many seasoned artists there having been in the markets for many years. What will they think? I let these feelings go on for an hour. That is all I told myself. I had the whole day + the next day. I needed to brush these feelings away. I decided to be proud of myself - of the work I had created - of putting myself out there - for my time and dedication.
