Troopers investigate multiple crashes involving over 100 vehicles. On Sunday, March 1, 2020, around 3:39 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified ...of crashes involving multiple vehicles around milepost 181 and 184 on Interstate 80. Troopers arrived to find over 100 vehicles involved between both crashes. Multiple injuries and three fatalities have been confirmed with this crash. The east and westbound lanes remain closed, while troopers continue to investigate these significant crashes. Weather is reported to be a factor in these crashes. As of 10:00 a.m., the estimated time to open the road is 26 to 32 hours. The incident is ongoing and still under investigation.

WYDOT crews are working to clear the westbound lanes of I-80 after a major pileup near mile marker 184, which caused three fatalities and multiple injuries acco...rding to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Maintenance crews are working to clear drifting snow away from the scene of the crash so wreckers can continue clearing out the vehicles and debris. All westbound lanes are blocked and estimates show the road could be closed an additional 26-32 hours. A second pileup also occurred yesterday afternoon in the eastbound lanes on mile marker 180, close to the pileup westbound. Crews were able to clear the wreckage and eastbound lanes are open, although slick spots are still being reported. Westbound rolling closures are likely. Over 100 vehicles were involved between the two pileups. The Wyoming Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crashes. Please slow down and stay aware when driving in adverse weather conditions.
