We know that by the design of the Somatic Nervous System that more sensory and motor awareness is in the hands when we look at the brain map of the homunculus. Hands provide so we can thrive. A wonderful sharing. #appliedsomatics #hannasomatictrainingcanada

Somatic movements and clinical Somatics contribute to neuroplastic changes in the Somatic Nervous System. With conscious attention to movement patterns sensation, quality of movement, flexibility and greater relaxation can be achieved. #appliedsomatics

Our training includes learning to understand the mind body connection. An easy example to experience yourself is to imagine yourself biting into a lemon - as you do notice how you feel. Do you sense an aversion or hesitation? Do you sense changes in your face, throat or mouth including production of saliva? An example I (Violet)share when we teach is about my own experience of doing the dishes with my hands in warm water and noticing that my hands were getting cold. I knew... that my hands shouldn’t be getting cold. As I questioned why, I realized my thoughts of stressful events were consuming my mind and changing my breathing. When I started to consciously breathe slowly into the abdomen my hands warmed and I sensed my shoulders relaxing away from my ears. We have delayed workshops due to Covid19 but look forward to being able to teach others how to share Applied Somatics with their clients and students. #appliedsomatics #hannasomatictrainingcanada #stressrelief #painmanagement
