Making a post to recognize today’s International Women’s day, has been on my mind all day but I’m finally slowing down enough to type. While running through the day, I kept thinking of many women who’ve been transformative influences in my life. There have been many exceptional, powerful women who’ve have made ... are making amazing contributions in my life and for each I am incredibly thankful. My naivety to many of the plights women face is not enough to miss some of the c...hallenges, inequality and often unjust treatment of women in business. I think of my Grandmother who taught me as much about budgeting and saving as any professor; my Mom who taught me more about making it happen with whatever effort necessary than any business mentor. I think of my Bride who is truly the driving force behind our home and every business venture we embark on. I think of great colleagues, friends, clients, my team and family members who continually impress me with their ideas, ingenuity and determination. I am humble enough to recognize that I’ve just been trying to keep up. I often reflect on a difficult female boss, I once had, (whom I still quote quite often) she was harsh, rude, filled with unreasonable expectations and quite unfair, yet I always sort of realized that the injustices she experienced in cultural differences and gender imbalance likely created these defence mechanisms which to some extent, inhibited her obvious abundance of talent. More must be done to bridge the divide in opportunity and especially remuneration. I’m convinced it takes every family, organization, institution and business to pause and reflect on where they would or would not be without the contributions of women .... we’d quickly realize that we as a society would be squarely no where. Happy International Women’s day, albeit long and late, this guy applauds you all. #internationalwomensday2021
