Do you feel like despite all of your efforts in the gym you just aren’t making the progress you wish you were making? Consider these common mistakes that might be keeping you from reaching your goals! Eating enough food for your body’s needs is important. Not eating enough & remaining active is a recipe for burn out & isn’t a sustainable approach for long-term success.... Protein is probably the most important macronutrient. It keeps us feeling fuller longer and takes more energy to digest than carbs and fats. Not only that, but it’s essential for building and repairing our muscles. Don’t cut your carbs! Our bodies use carbs as the main fuel source Don’t forget to take rest days. These aren’t optional! And you definitely don’t need to eat less on those rest days! Just because you’re not exercising doesn’t mean your body doesn’t need fuel to recover and fuel your next workouts. If you’re trying to lose fat & find yourself losing control every weekend, consider eating more nutrient-dense foods (and foods that you enjoy) consistently throughout the week! Don’t overly restrict yourself; this leads to the binge and restrict cycle! Consider periodizing your nutrition so you’re breaking up your periods of dieting or being in a caloric deficit
Looking to start a healthy lifestyle or maybe a New Year’s Resolution? Maybe you want to eat healthier, lose fat, build strength, or gain muscle. Let Bar1s help you reach your goals while still incorporating all the foods you enjoy! Until January 15, we will be running a huge promotion on two of our new nutrition consulting programs, The Starter & The Booster. Bar1s nutritionist Morgan shares a common question that clients ask - "how many meals should I eat every day?" Instead of asking that, try to think about "how many meals best fit into your lifestyle?" Truth is, there's no ideal eating schedule other than the one that works best for you. There is no magic formula; there are no specific amount of calories per meal or specific time between meals that will change the process.... When wondering how many times you should eat per day, think about: When do you have time to eat? When are you hungry? What makes you feel the best? As long as you are hitting your caloric needs consistently, it doesn't matter if you're eating 3 meals per day or 8! Keep it simple and focus on your total daily consumption and stick to a routine that works best for you.

As most of you know, our team here as Bar1s love our donuts. We don’t curb our sweet tooth and we’re here to tell you that you don’t need to either! Continue reading for Bar1s nutritionist Morgan Tersigni’s tips The first thing you can do for yourself is stop labelling foods as good and bad because there’s no such thing! Sure, some ingredients are more nutritious than others but there’s room in your diet for all kinds of foods, especially the ones that make you happy!... Most people find that when they’re eating enough food throughout the day, their cravings go down. So, try adding in more balanced meals throughout the day. Center each meal around a solid protein source (and enough protein, for that), carbs, and fats! Lastly and most importantly remember that there’s nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy a sweet. And no, you don’t need to earn it through torturous exercise first! Our relationship with food is important. Enjoy the foods you love in moderation rather than glorifying them to the point that you begin a restricting and bingeing cycle!
The first step to reaching your goal is trying! Make everyday your day! Our staff is here to support you no matter your goal! For information on our gym and the services we offer, give us a call at 705-575-2694 or visit our website at www.Bar1s.com
