Introducing our logo! Which do you prefer, Dark or light? Each detail was specifically and exquisitely designed by JoAnne from Mock-Ups Mocktails. THANK YOU!... Each plant picked by myself and can be found on our property: Ferns - because they are my favourite Buttercups - because my son tests me continually to "see if I like butter" Clover - they remind me of my rabbit and they are so cheery in Winter Wildrose - because I love our Province and the petals taste so sweet #newlogo #darkorlight #choose #helpmepick #survey #wildflowers #wildfoliage #alberta #albertagardening #whitecourt #logo #logodesigns #doyoulikebutter

Not every sunset is about brilliant colours. Tonight's sunset was gorgeous by the way it highlighted the trees. Simple joys. #sunset #albertasunset #nofilterneeded #albertaforest #forest #simplejoys #tree #gardening #whitecourt #alberta

Pea shells after shelling in the fall. All from Sweet Ann Peas from in my garden but all dried differently. Simple beauty. #growyourown #sweetannpeas #shells #gardening #seedharvest #growwhatyoueat #simplebeauty #peas #peasinapod #albertagardening #whitecourt

So many questions come up regarding seed starting so I thought I would write up some tips: - Right Time - earlier is not better! The seed pack should say how many weeks before frost it should be started. Find your last frost date and count backwards to find the right time to start your seeds. In Whitecourt our last frost date is end of May. - Right Temperature - some seeds like it warmer and some like it cooler to germinate. Some may need a heat mat (like peppers) and some ne...ed it quite cool (many perennials). - Right Light - some need light to germinate and therefore are just sprinkled on top of the soil. To have best results you need a grow light. Depending on type of light the height above seedlings will vary, but place it close to seedlings and as they grow, raise the light. Leggy plants mean not enough light (or it's too far). - Right Water - water soil very well then plant seeds and cover with dome. Once they germinate, uncover. - Right Wind - once germinated and uncovered, place oscillating fan on low near the seedlings (enough to have a little leaf movement). It will strengthen stem. Hope this helps and your babies grow well. And for most reliable results, use new seeds. Date your seed pack the year you get it so you know if you're using old stock and when to replace it. The veins on the back of this little Baptisia seedling are so intricate. It's first true leaf, one of many to come. This one could be yours this Spring. Sown and grown at Belke Gardens. #venation #leafveins #whitecourt #albertagardening #baptisia #seedstarting #sopretty #leaf #growlittleseedlingsgrow #green
