Good morning BLR community! We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. We would like to ensure everyone that we are here to support you. The BLR Fire Department is prepared and has taken steps to guarantee a safe and effective response, in light of the covid-19 situation. Save the list to your phone and add it to your emergency plan. - Check your batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. - Make a fire escape plan for your family, including pets. If you have kids have them prepare one and go over it with them. - Your yard is a great place to be during COVID-19, so take advantage of the time and get your home and property Fire Smart. - Move firewood 10-30 m away from your house - Clear your roof and gutters of leaves - Keep grass cut to less than 10 cm For those wanting to do a fire safety assessment check out this link! https://firesmartcanada.ca//10/FS_Home_Assessment_final.pdf We all understand the trying times of staying home and social distancing but please reach out to family and friends by phone or video chat.
