We stopped by Millards Chartered Professional Accountants the other day to pick up their Cupcake Day donation and we were reminded of the amazing work that these wonderful people do for the Brant County SPCA! We are so lucky to have their continued support and this year they’ve taken Cupcake Day up a notch! Combined with their generous donation and sponsorship, we’ve raised a total of $26,275.70 for the animals of the Brant County SPCA! Our community came together and showed us the best Cupcake Day we’ve had in years! Thank you to Millard’s and to everyone who made this year's Cupcake Day such an incredible success!

As some of you may remember, we were recently looking for a Fospice home for Oscar. Oscar is a sweet boy, in his elder years now and was on the market for a cozy new spot to spend his time in. We are beyond happy to announce that Oscar has found that cozy spot and is settling in just great, Oscar is loving his bedroom to himself and is enjoying getting to bake in the sun". We knew the right people and space would brighten up Oscar’s days and make the remainder of his life one to remember. And of course, we assumed he’d be quick to share his love too as we know he is an absolute cuddle bug! Raine has been quick to thank us here at the SPCA, for allowing Oscar to spend his retirement with her family. Raine, we want to send those thanks right back. We are so grateful for the love you have chosen to share with Oscar he deserves it!

Happy Ride Along Wednesday! Our animal services team received a call this morning about a cold, scared raccoon. After careful assessment, our furry little friend was deemed healthy and left to continue on to find a warm place to hide for the day. Friendly reminder that it's not uncommon to see raccoons during the day. And remember that in stressful/loud situations it could take awhile for them to gain the confidence to get on their way!

Bert's adoption fees have been sponsored by a wonderful member of the community! Uhm, hey guys, I’m Bert. I’m uh, a little bit shy I have to admit. I’m usually hiding in my box here at the shelter. I know the staff is friendly but I just take a little longer to get to know people I guess. That being said, I am a calm boy. I like to lounge and take everything in. My ideal family would be patient and allow me to come out of my shell! Yes, it can be a process but I promise you ...I’m worth the wait! Bert 46016199 Medium; Shorthair/Blend Black Male Neutered 4 Years Old Available **Please note all visitors must have the appropriate PPE (face covering/mask) when visiting the shelter** Interested in adopting? Is it wrong to want you all to myself? I don’t think so. I would also prefer to be in a home with no small kids to cramp my style. I think you’d under...stand. I’m just an awesome sophisticated kitty who’s looking for pretty sweet family to call my own. Could that be you? Remembrance Day may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean we stop honouring those who fought for our freedom. Today we are proud to present our newest program: Pets for Vets As of today, Veterans and active members of our military are able to adopt an animal from the Brant County SPCA with no adoption fees attached! Those participating must provide proof of service (Military Service ID Card). We understand that health care (both mental and physical) is crucial to our Vete...rans. Many suffer combat related injuries and experience traumatic events that can affect them long term. Animals have the ability to help with stress, anxiety, loneliness and give us a level of companionship that is constantly nurturing. This program promotes these relationships. Oftentimes animals come to our shelter afraid and timid. By creating a bond that benefits both Veterans and the animals that go home with them, it’s truly a win-win. Head to our website to learn more: https://www.brantcountyspca.com/pets-for-vets/

The first few days, weeks, even months with a new pet you are constantly learning about them. Their tendencies, personality, likes and dislikes are slowly revealed until you have that perfect understanding of the incredible animal you brought home. Starburst went to her forever home and at first her new family thought that she might be shy or a little bit frightened of her new environment, it turns out she was just looking for a little extra warmth! Star spent her first few... weeks with us "hiding" under blankets. Turns out she wasn't hiding! She just doesn’t like being cold! This year with Starburst has been great! She fits in well with our other kitty, Critter. Loves to play and hates tummy rubs! Star’s new family has spent the past year learning all of Star’s funny quirks and habits and loving every minute of it! She is such a beautiful girl! Star especially loves her mama, 9 year old Elle! What a wonderful update. Thank you to DeeAnn, Elle and the rest of this amazing family for welcoming Starburst with open arms!

Bunny and the SPCA want to say thanks to Olivia! Over the weekend, a young girl named Olivia and her family stopped in to make a donation. Olivia had made friendship bracelets and sold them so she could make an impact in our animals lives! Way to go Olivia!! Unfortunately, it was raining when she stopped by and we weren’t able to snap a photo, but we didn’t want to miss our opportunity to say thanks!
