Posted @withregram @inspireournationofficial ADULT PANELIST Teena Nelson Teena Nelson is originally from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, however, was only able to connect with her community and relatives as an adult. She received a warm welcome and taught for many years at the school in Ahtahkakoop.... Teena now serves families, providing supports for urban parents by them giving tools and resources to foster strong connections to raise healthy children. This is especially dear to her heart because of the importance of parent and child bonds. The atrocities that separated Indigenous parents and their children, through children being taken from their families to residential schools, many who never saw their families again, and the ‘sixties scoop’ where children were taken from their parents and adopted to non-indigenous families, created a gap for subsequent generations. Come to our Inspire Our Nation Reconciliation panel, with open eyes, ears and hearts, to take in the conversation about ‘where do we go from here’? Teena is an artist, a youth role model and has been a leader in our @inspiregirlgroup program delivery this summer, in several communities. Being our first online Inspire Girl pilot project this summer, we soon discovered the benefits of online geographical reach to be able to include Indigenous and non-indigenous youth and leaders from multiple communities far and wide. Thanks to support from @CDNRoots we delivered successfully and developed a strong base to empower youth, with the Inspire Girl Program in collaboration with @BRAVEEducation! #everychildmatters #Indigenousleaders #ourchildrenschildren #InspireOurNation #Inspire #Overcome #Influence #BeInspired #EmpoweringYouth #YouAreAnOvercomer #Gospel #InspireOurNation2020 #InspireLiveAndOnline2020 #YouthConference #FreeConference #OnlineConference #Youth #STAND #STANDSecure #STANDTogether #STANDAuthentic #STANDNamed #STANDDiverse
