I would like to wish all the residents of Summerside a happy safe new year.
Taking a moment to wish all residents of ward four and all of Summerside a very happy and safe Christmas.
We voted on the release of the non edited recommendations from the Hopping report at the last council meeting and to fulfill the promise I made during the election I seconded the motion and voted for what could be released to be released. This was not the complete report as I had wanted, it was the unedited recommendations, an edited version of the recommendations were previously released. The complete report could not be released because previous council entered into a legal agreement that prevents this from being done and we are bound by this agreement.
It was a heck of a storm folks and I know it has been slow to get thing back to normal, or as normal as it gets this time of year in Summerside. I was on duty during the storm with fourteen other firefighters and we had to answer seven calls during the storm period so I had a birds eye view of just how bad it was. We are lucky no one was hurt and the blowers are getting the streets widen. Thank you all for your understanding
I'd like to take a moment to wish all the citizens of Summerside and the Mayor and councillors as well as all the staff and the firefighters and there families a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Its been a month now and the work of council has begun. It is a steep learning curve for those new to the job but they are doing an excellent job thus far. For me it was little easier, I;d liken it to being a fan of coronation street and not watching it for four years you see one episode and its like you never left. We are starting to address some of the issues and concerns that people have told me about in my door to door canvass and i will be reporting to you with my progress as the opportunity lends itself. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season and we will chat soon.
I would like to thank each and everyone for all the well wishes and congratulations tonight! I can't express my gratitude enough! It was a great race and I am happy to be the voice of Summerside ward 4 once again! We will do great things. I would also like to congratulate all the other candidates that ran tonight and sho won! Thank you again!
Down here at Doolys have a drink to celebrate the win! If anyone would like to stop in and say hi!
Thanks everybody for your support! It's great to be back! Celebrating with my family now!
Well Facebook friends the last day to vote is Monday I hope if you are going to support my efforts that you get to vote it is very important. I do look forward to serving you once again I'll take this time to thank you for all for your support and encouragement what ever the result is. Have a great weekend.
Just a little history for my face book friends. I have been serving this community in one fashion or another for over 35 years. I get a real charge out of making the community a better place to live and work. My now long past on grandfather once told me, you should never pass by anyone in need with out offering your hand to help. That is what he did and I have tried to live my life with the same way. I also believe you get much more in return than whatever you give. What come...s around, goes around, as they say. I have offered my services when I felt they could be of use, and to that end, I have volunteered on for many charities and served on a lot of boards, but my proudest accomplishment is my thirty plus years of service as a fire fighter in this community. As a councillor I undertook the challenge of some city problems that needed solutions for many years and I delivered, The West end beach and board walk, getting a government department to move to Summerside, (Department of Education), the new Race Way, the Cenotaph renovation were a few of the causes I championed. Changing the bylaw to allow the Life Safety Code to used in the downtown area that allowed many of the old structures to be re-purposed in the city including the Journal building and the old Coop feed mill, as well as the old French Club space. I am not here for recognition or to pad my resume I am the kind of person who genuinely wants to improve the lives of the citizens of this community. If elected, I will do this through consensus building and dialog with my fellow councillors. I am a finisher, I do not stop until the objective is achieved and this it what you can expect from me if you elect me on November third as your councillor for ward 4 Clifton Market.
Last week of the campaign, it has been fun to reconnect with the residents of ward four. One more advance poll on Saturday and then the vote on Monday. I would ask for your support and thank you too all.
