This is a great article from Kelsey Wheelhouse, one of the associates at our firm. I would recommend reading this article whether you have been laid off or not. It never hurts to understand your rights!

I just read an interesting article about the pros and cons of springing powers of attorney and non-springing powers of attorney. To help define some of the terms:... Power of Attorney - appointing someone to deal with financial decisions Springing - The attorney cannot act until a specific event. Usually the event is upon the the grantor losing mental capacity. Non-springing - Legally your attorney can start doing things as soon as the grantor has signed the document. https://www.allaboutestates.ca/spring-not-spring/
