We are getting very close! The Port Colborne Lions are proud to hold our annual food drive. However, please note the date has changed this year to SATURDAY, OCT...OBER 24TH. To avoid having weather set backs like last year, we have decided to host our annual food drive the weekend before Halloween from here on out. Donations are needed now, more than ever, with many people suffering hardships due to the pandemic. If you can donate, help us, help others! We will be taking extra precautions this year by having our door to door collectors wearing gloves and masks, we will not be knocking on doors this year so please make sure donations are left on your front step in a visible location by 9 am or if you are not on a route drop off can be done at Port Cares Outreach Centre on Nickel Street or at Christian Life Assembly on Barrick Road. *Note if you have cheque donations you can add Lions Food Drive in the memo and mail them to Port Cares, 92 Charlotte St, Port Colborne, ON L3K 3E1. Interested in volunteering for being a runner to pick up donations please contact Lion Laura 289-407-0106 or for driving a route and collecting with your vehicle contact Jan Fuaco 905-835-8157. With case counts growing in Niagara and across Ontario, it's important to remember that your choices can affect others around you. Social events that may seem h...armless, such as playing sports with friends and extended family gatherings, can cause a wider spread of COVID-19 infections. This is why we're asking you to limit your contacts to your household for the next little while. Our choices can make a difference. Let's choose to protect each other and #StopTheSpread of COVID-19. niagararegion.ca/COVID19

Health Officials say Ontario is facing an upward trajectory with #COVID19 cases doubling every 10-12 days. Forecasts show that cases could reach 1,000 per day i...n the first half of October. Cases were highest in younger ages recently, but they are now "spilling over" into other age groups where there are more "tragic results". "With the recent rise in cases, we limited private social gatherings and tightened public health measures for businesses and organizations to reduce the transmission in our communities," said Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health. The main goal is managing ICU capacity to allow scheduled surgeries to continue. Hope to stay below line of 150 so hospitals and ICU can operate close to normal. Between 150-350 things become strained, and above 350 it becomes impossible to maintain non #COVID19 procedures.
