Hi Friends! We are closed Monday, Sept 7 for Labour day. This is both to give our staff a much deserved break and for time to do RENOVATIONS! We are keeping our regular hours for the rest of the weekend; Friday-Saturday 9am-12am, Sunday 9am - 11pm. Thanks to @creativerisemarketing for the photo.

Dear BunkHaus Lovers, My name is Ingrid Woodhouse and I am the owner here at BunkHaus Hostel/The Uptowner Cafe. I'd like to start this love letter to you all by saying THANK YOU for 2 beautiful years of getting to host amazing people from all over the globe. I could write a book on all the wonderful experiences I've had. Our guests have been absolutely delightful: I've loved listening to their music, their stories, and I was even lucky enough to met my love here. So trust m...e when I say that the following has not been an easy decision... With a heavy heart and a deep breath I am officially closing Saint John's only hostel, the BunkHaus Hostel, on September 2. As I am sure you can guess this decision has been forced on me due to covid19 and the resulting lack of tourism. But do not fear: the cafe/bar (The Uptowner) will remain! And something even better is going to replace the back hostel portion (to be announced soon) in an effort to keep 36 Water Street vibrant. That brings me to our next situation... We need a serious chunk of money to convert the hostel and we just so happen to have A LOT of mattresses that need to go. This means that each mattress purchase will help us create the new business that will replace the hostel and therefore keep The Uptowner flourishing. What a deal!
