PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY: A non-resident worker is safely isolating in Yellowknife after being diagnosed with COVID-19. There have been no public exposure risks identified in the NWT as a result of this COVID-19 case. Details: https://bit.ly/3ojHGlD #nwtpoli #yzf #COVID19
There is a presumptive positive Covid case at Diavik Diamond Mine and a confirmed positive Covid case at Gahcho Kue Diamond Mine. Neither of these cases will be counted toward NWT Covid cases as neither person is an NWT resident.
Thank you for your service yesterday and today. This handsome Welshman is Jack, my grandfather. He designed aircraft for the Second World War. He worked in Filton, a heavily sought after base by Hitler’s army. Bristol, my mother’s hometown, and Filton were routinely and devastatingly bombed- and my aunt still remembers sleeping under the kitchen table wondering if her father would make it home from work. He did. My mother became their post-war celebration, and some years later they moved and raised their family in Montreal. Thank you service members of yesterday and today for your selfless service. #honour #remember #thankful #rememberanceday #veterans
There is a confirmed positive COVID case in Fort Smith. The case is travel related and self-isolation was followed.

On Wednesday, November 11, we will remember the courage of ordinary men and women called upon for extraordinary acts of heroism and sacrifice. Due to COVID-19, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164 will live stream their Remembrance Day service on the JTFN and Cabin Radio FB pages. www.facebook.com/FOIN.JTFN Cabin Radio NWT
MEMBER'S STATEMENT: Call on all Politicians to end Systemic Racism - November 5, 2020 I will continue the public dialogue needed to help end systemic racism. I would like to see our government act by undertaking the work needed to identify where system racism hides in our own laws, regulations, and policies. In order to stamp it out, we need to root it out.
ORAL QUESTIONS: Indigenous Representation within the GNWT - November 4, 2020 Members spent yesterday speaking about Indigenous representation in the GNWT. I spoke to this in my Member's Statement and later questioned the Premier and the Minister of Finance on what government is doing to build a representative workforce. The following commitments were made:... - Development of a GNWT Indigenous recruitment and retention framework; - Commitment to review the Affirmative Action Policy within the term of this government; - Indigenous cultural awareness and sensitivity training for all GNWT employees.
I'm happy to see that all active cases have now recovered.
