Meet Dr G - the woman behind Calgary Skin Cancer Centre! . Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. G knew she wanted to return to Calgary to set up her practice after many years of training across the country, with surgical experts in the field of head & neck surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and surgical oncology. . When not at work, you can find Dr G taking care of her outdoor Koi fish pond, many tropical house plants, and outdoor garden; and of course her belove...d fur-child, Cassius the Mastiff, is always there to help Mom out! . Dr. G has volunteered with the surgical foundation Facing Africa in Ethiopia, and continues to fundraiser for this foundation and hopes to return again soon when it’s safe to do so. ALBERTA PHYSICIANS - WE ARE THE AMA. To quote our appointed leader, Dr. Christine Molnar: By terminating the AMA Agreement and imposing the Physician Funding Framework, the Minister of Health is imposing his own views about what should happen without appropriate consultation from physicians. This is why his rural initiatives announced last Friday - although welcomed and clearly necessary - did not receive the resounding applause he may have wished for. ... To be candid, he sought credit for solving a problem, *but did not acknowledge that he was solely responsible for creating it in the first place*. Instead, he sought to blame the AMA, which had responsibly warned him about these and other issues for months. The Minister has taken the position that he does not require contracts or agreements to govern the system; he will simply change things as he sees fit. ALBERTANS - I URGE you to please consider what your priorities are - in your health care - going forward. There are many variables to consider: cost, access, quality, public versus privatization versus some unknown blend. Provincial and federal deficits. Time limits. Caps. Co-pays. I don’t doubt we have different opinions and priorities, but as doctors continue to fight - as we feel is on your behalf, it is TIME you let YOUR VOICE be heard. TODAY we operated on NINE melanomas. Melanoma is currently the second commonest malignancy in adults aged 25-49years. The incidence rate of melanoma is increasing yearly. My amazing team came in on a long-wknd Sunday to help us get these patients in urgently.
