I want to spend the rest of the winter hibernating in this beautiful cabin - watching the northern lights from the window and waiting for warmer days to arrive again
Some favourite photos of 2020! It's been a challenging year for many but despite all the hardship there is still so much to be grateful for. I'm very fortunate to have had the opportunity to explore the wild spaces in my home province here in British Columbia this year, something I've never taken the time to do. Thanks for following along and see you in 2021!
I’m the type of person that finds it hard not to fall in love with every dog I come across A favourite moment from Yellowknife this year.
Worthy of being printed on postcards... One of the prettiest villages I’ve ever visited nestled high up in the Austrian Alps.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! P.S. How cool is this tree that I found on my hike last week!
This day felt like I had walked into a real life snow globe. It was the first snowfall of the season and I definitely didn’t pack warm enough clothes for it, but it was too beautiful to not get out and still enjoy it. I’m secretly hoping for lots of snow in Vancouver this winter mostly because all this rain doesn’t have an end in sight
I’ve spent most of the fall behind my computer going a little crazy from editing photos, working out the logistics for new projects and sweeping up a never-ending pile of leaves at home. I’m valuing all this time enjoying the new house but a big part of me wants to get out to a cozy little cabin on a lake and disconnect for a few days with my camera.
Memories from the Summer - frying up freshly caught shrimp on the banks of the Exchamsiks River was definitely a highlight. This valley is home to some of the largest known old-growth Sitka Spruce trees, you can really feel how special it is here. @ Exchamsiks River
This little fox ran right across the road in front of me while I was out for a drive. It stopped for a few seconds and made eye contact with me before running off. That beautiful orange coat really stood out in the fresh snow
I took a little solo overnight backcountry hike out to Floe Lake over the summer and think I found one of the most beautiful campsites I’ve ever camped at (swipe to see!) The sunny weather was short lived, I was supposed to spend two nights there but rain and wind forced me to hike out a day early. I wasn’t really happy with any of the photos and that’s the way it goes sometimes but it was good to disconnect and get creative somewhere new and I slept so good! @ Kootenay National Park
This image defined the early part of my photography career, I captured these Elk crossing the railway in Banff all the way back in 2011 (long before the days of Instagram). The following summer it was picked up by @natgeo and made it into publications around the world. Although it’s a distant memory now, it’s still one of my favourite photos and always a great reminder of my journey in this field. [This was taken from above a bend in the railway at 270mm, please don’t go on active railway lines]
From the coast right into the Rockies, it seems like most of the mountains across Western Canada got a fresh coat of snow this week. It’s getting me a little excited about the ski season and since I won’t be traveling too far I’m hoping to spend more time in the mountains locally
