Note that there are three levels of court in BC (Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal), with different procedures for each. "Judges won't need convincing that COVID-19 is extremely serious, and that meaningful precautions are required to protect children and families. We know there's a problem," Ontario Superior Court Justice Alex Pazaratz wrote in a decision last week that has already been widely cited in family law cases. "What we're looking for is realistic solutions."

It might be surprising to hear this from a family lawyer, but some of the most rewarding and happy moments in my work has been when a client has decided not to separate from their spouse or has reconciled after some time apart (of course, assuming there is no abuse involved). There have been many recent articles about how there will be an increase in divorces following this period of isolation with families.
