Did you know that 1 in 100 babies are born with a congenital heart defect? That makes it the most common birth defect in the world. This defect results in congenital heart disease (CHD) which requires lifelong, specialized cardiac care; despite monumental advancements in medicine, CHD cannot be 'cured', only repaired. This #WorldHeartDay let's raise awareness about CHD. Share this post and visit cchaforlife.org to get more information on living with #CHD from birth through adulthood. #chdawareness #1in100 #UseHeart

CCHA Advocates: MEDSKL has identified CCHA as being 'deeply involved with patient advocacy' and have asked us to help connect with adults, youth and parents of children living with CHD to invite them to participate in their new Patient Perspectives series, to share your experience with medical students across Canada, to provide information about your CHD condition, experiences moving through the healthcare system, tips for future physicians and general Q&A. MEDSKL is a free, open-access medical education platform that provides patients with a platform to engage in advocacy and teaching future physicians - as clinical skills teaching has halted due to the pandemic.
