From time to time I will add some tips for yearly maintenance or interesting information that I feel I should share! Chaulk it up Tip #1: How to Clean Front Load Washers: For those of you with a front load washer you will know that mold builds up on the interior belt around the door and in the drum of the washer. If your door is left closed all the time it will smell terrible! One simple trick to delay the mold from growing is to leave the doors open when not in us...e. But did you know you should clean it 4x a year?? Here’s how.... Steps to Clean Front load washing machine: 1- Wipe the plastic seal around the door with a hot soapy rag or paper towel and you might need a toothbrush to remove hair, coins, paper and grime. 2- Pour 2 Cups of Baking Soda into the washing machine and run it at the hottest and longest cycle. This basically breaks up any mold in the drum of the machine. 3- When that is done Pour in 2 Cups of Vinegar (5-10 drops of essential oils like Lavender is optional) and again run at the hottest and longest cycle. This acts as a disinfectant. Removing any mould and mildew smells from inside of the machine. 4- Ensure you clean the dispenser of the machine. Remove the tray and wash with hot soapy water. You will need a toothbrush since there are small places your fingers likely won’t be able to get into! 5- You should repeat this ever 3-4 months. 6- Every 6 months ensure you clean out the filter lots of fur, hair and grime can build up in there! 7- Ensure you clean the Filter every 6 months... To open and clean your front load washer drain pump filter: 1 Locate and open the small access door ( you might need a flat screwdriver or coin.) 2 Get a small bowl and towel and put under the door. 3 Turn the filter counter clockwise to remove it. 4 Let all the water drain out into the bowl or towel. 5 Clean out any link, dog hair, or other gunk in or around the filter. 6 Run the filter under hot water in your sink to clean it off. 7 Clean where the filter slides into with a warm rag or dishcloth. 8 Reinstall the filter and turn clockwise to lock it in place. 9 Close the small access door. It is pretty GROSS work! But it has to be done! Call us if you have any questions 416-917-6784
