Phyllis Webstad, who attended a residential school in British Columbia in the 1970’s started Orange Shirt Day in 2013. Phyllis was initially excited to go to sc...hool and went shopping with her granny to pick out a new outfit for school; she chose a shiny orange shirt. That shirt was taken away from her when she arrived at residential school and was never returned to her. On September 30th we wear an orange shirt to demonstrate the commitment to reconciliation and opening and continuing dialogue about residential schools. Every Child Matters

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Ontario Government has reduced the limits on the number of people permitted to attend unmonitored and private social gatherings across the... entire province. These new limits are effective immediately. The new limit on the number of people allowed to attend an unmonitored private social gathering across the province is: 10 people at an indoor event or gathering (previous limit of 50) 25 people at an outdoor event or gathering (previous limit of 100) Unmonitored and private social gatherings include functions, parties, dinners, gatherings, BBQs or wedding receptions held in private residences, backyards, parks and other recreational areas.
