There are virtual tours and some hands-on activities for families today and next weekend - making a proboscis (mouthpart of a butterfly) and chromatography butterflies this weekend and making a butterfly biodiversity mobile and a life cycle next weekend. Cooking together was so much fun, I am sad the season is over but so happy because of all the good memories. I had so much fun crafting and doing experiments with you all through this season! Thank you so much to all my little volunteers who came by the garden and helped it flourish! We fed ourselves and our neighbours, and it feels good! Good job all around!

How are your rock collections going?! I just got gifted these amazing specimens! My favourites are the amazing sedimentary slate with actual fossils on it & the fluorescent fluoride, it glows under the black light!! How cool is that?!

Mini-master chef - harvest party 2020

Have fun today everyone with the Harvest Party! It's the last event of the season - a season that Bia has gone well beyond our expectations and made the Children's Garden during the pandemic a super fun place to be! Bia, we cannot thank you enough for all the amazing crafts you did, the badges!, organizing events, and ensuring the garden was lush with produce and the community was able to help out and harvest. Thank you BIA! (Thank you, too, to Sandy Hill Community Health Centre who funded the Garden this summer so we could hire Bia and provide materials for the crafts, badges, and seeds and materials for the garden; and to TD Parks who funded the event in June and today's Harvest party).

Our Harvest party is coming up, and this year things look a little different. We will all miss getting together at the garden, but we want to make sure we are all apart but still connected. This year, join us for our cooking event, on September 20 at 3 PM, Live, right here on our Facebook Page! We will make a delicious Zucchini Cake for dessert, that way, after dinner, when we all taste our cakes we will eat knowing all of our friends and neighbours are also sharing this meal, we may not be eating together at the garden, but we are still connected. So gather up your ingredients and get ready to bake! (Ingredients & substitutions for Gluten free and Vegan options available below - sugar may be substituted for baking sweetener, follow packaging instructions)

I have been practicing my string art skills for our Virtual Harvest Party! Did you send the request for your maker kit yet? Send an email to [email protected] to order yours, don’t forget to let us know the number of kids/youth and the address for delivery. Did I mentioned the kit is FREE and we will deliver to your door? Look at these amazing garden scientists! Matheo and Victoria went one step ahead on their electric veggies maker kit and made batteries with strawberries and avocados! So cool!
