It's day 11 of the 21 Day Fresh Year Fresh Start Campaign. We are just over half-way through starting the year off in a productive and healthy way! The challenge for today (January 11) is: Stretch for at least 15 minutes This could be yoga, a stretch tacked on to your regular workout, or simply using your coffee break at work to re-charge your muscles!... The Winter Photo Contest starts today! Join us as we challenge you to capture photos in Fort St. John (and the surrounding area) that reflect the weekly theme. Our theme for this week is: Winter City. Submit your photos to [email protected], post them on the comments below this post or on Instagram with the hashtag #fsjcity.... This contest runs from January 11 - February 15. The grand prize winner will have their photo turned into a Winter puzzle that will be sold at the Visitor Centre. Other winners will receive a winter prize bundle and/or gift cards to local businesses! Winners will be announced via Facebook on February 22. The holiday break is less than a month away! Do you spend the holidays scrambling to shopping? Wrapping presents? Cleaning? Cooking? Drop the kids off at the Pomeroy Sport Centre for this festive half-day camp while you get ready for the holidays! Camp dates are December 21,22,23,29 and 30 and run from 9am-2pm. This program is for ages 5-10. Campers will keep busy with safe activities including games, Christmas crafts, skating, Christmas movies, and more!... Did you know that during this winter season the Parks Crew is maintaining the top asphalt trail at Fish Creek Community Forest. Head there if you’re looking for a delightful walk in nature. The gravel multi-use trail and the wilderness trails are not maintained but you could still venture out at your own risk, please take care and keep your eyes open for slippery sections! We got more trees! Thank you! If you haven't done it already, you still have time to drop off your Christmas Tree at Centennial Park between the Pomeroy Sport Centre and North Peace Museum. All trees will be used for the High on Ice Winter Festival, and then composted. Last day is next Friday January 15.

It's the LAST day of the Christmas Fitness Choutndown Buddy the Elf is racing to finish today's Pomeroy Sport Centre Challenge which is 24 laps of the Northern Vac Track! The track closes early today so we will give you until the end of December to complete your 24 laps. Remember to pre-book your track session and wear a mask!... Are you interested in a career in the fitness industry? Instructor, Bev Mcallum and the City of Fort St. John present: Fitness Knowledge at the Pomeroy Sport Centre! This is a pre-requisite for all fitness specializations (Aquatics, Group Fitness, Weight Trainer or Personal Trainer) and is mandatory to proceed with other CFES fitness certifications. This course can also be used to accrue credits to maintain certifications. 100% attendance and passing a final exam is mandatory... to receive the certification for this course. Come the Youth Bowling Night on Thursday, October 22! This fun bowling event is at Fort Bowling Lanes. You can pre-register for one of four sessions! Times are at 6 pm, 6:15 pm, 6:30 pm & 6:45 pm.
