On Tuesday, Lethbridge City Council passed first reading for Bylaw 6265. A public hearing is scheduled from March 1-5 for Council to listen to the public's feedback and ask clarifying questions. This is a very concerning issue that could have negative impacts on our community including reduced levels of service and significant financial impacts to the taxpayers of Lethbridge. Starting Monday, September 21, residents can look forward to expanded swimming options as Nicholas Sheran Pool is set to re-open. As guidelines continue to be updated by the Government of Alberta, changes continue to be made at all pools managed by Recreation Excellence, including: - Change rooms are now open before and after swims but physical distancing must be maintained and masks must be worn while you are in the change room area. - There will be a limited number of locke...rs available for use. - Showers will only be available as you enter the pool. We ask you to refrain from showering after your swim. - Hot tubs and saunas are now open with capacity limits - Public Swims are no longer required to pre-book their swim time. - Limited swims such as Lane Swimming and Fitness classes still must register online. - Masks must be worn by patrons in common areas in the facility. Spectator areas are still closed at this time. Plans to re-open Fritz Sick Pool are underway and it is currently targeted to re-open in late October. If you are interested in participating: Bag your fallen leaves in paper yard waste bags. Please limit the weight of each bag to 25lbs or less. Call 311 between October 1 and November 13 they will provide you with an approximate pick-up date.... Place your bags where your garbage is normally collected, at least 3 feet from the cart, 24 hours prior to your scheduled pick-up date. The $25 million will come from various funding sources and a combination of grants, reserves, internal and/or external borrowing, and the pay-as-you-go program.
