Canada plans to welcome more than 1,2 million new permanent residents from 2021 to 2023 On October 30, 2020, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) announced the new immigration plans for the next three years. In 2021, Canada plans to welcome 401,000 new permanent residents, 411,000 in 2022 and 421,000 in 2023. This plan allows to bring in more than 1,2 million new immigrants over the next three years. As the focus is aimed at the economic growth... and recovery of Canada, 60% of these new immigration plans are to come from the economic classes, amounting to roughly 232,500 in 2021, 241,500 in 2022 and 249,500 in 2023. Canada’s Express Entry issued the largest draw in history for the second time As per Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, in the recent results report for rounds of invitations issued under the Express Entry system, Canada has seen for the second time in its history the largest number of invitations. In the draw on February 19, 2020, the number of invitations issued was 4,500 and on October 14 the same historical record was reached. The first phase of the Re-Open Saskatchewan economic plan kicked off in early May On April 23, 2020, Premier Scott Moe announced the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan. The plan consists of five phases: Phase One (begun on May 4, 2020): o Re-opening of previously restricted medical services;... o Re-opening of golf courses, parks, and campgrounds. Phase Two (May 19, 2020): Re-opening of retail businesses and select personal care services. Phase Three (date to be determined): o Re-opening of restaurants and food services, gyms and fitness centers, licensed establishments and child-care facilities; o Increasing the size of public and private gatherings to 15 people.
