February the love month ! Share the love not the germs! Did you know that periodontal bacteria that is present in our mouth is transferable! ... How? Kissing Sharing spoons Make sure your and your partner’s oral health is in check. Brushing and flossing is great, but the bacteria accumulated underneath the gums(pockets between teeth and gums) needs to be professionally removed. Since the tooth brush and floss can not reach in the deeper pockets, and this is why bacteria grows and thrives in those areas. We’ve got you covered DM us or call/text to book! 780-800-6655 @bound.folio

How are you taking care of your reusable mask? Here’s some care tips for a reusable mask: Do not share masks.... Fold mask with inside surface folded together. Store it in a clean dry surface in between uses. Wash your mask and use a drier to keep it dry. Change to a clean reusable mask often. Our mouth is a portal of entry for bacteria and viruses to enter in our body and even in our blood stream. Since we are wearing masks for extended periods of time, it is far more critical to keep number of bacteria and oral health in check. Call us today to book your professional dental hygiene and check up visit! During this time your dental hygienist is one of the most important health care professionals you should see! We are following strict guide lines to social distance, sterilization and disinfection between patients: We have no one waiting in our guest area. We recommend to book your family together so you can avoid interaction with other people. Book in advance. 2020 is almost over! Use your insurance benefits for your dental and overall health before the year ends!

As Registered Dental Hygienists here at Clean Smiles Dental Hygiene Clinic, We are capable of taking and interpreting x-rays. We take dental X-ray to provide optimum care for our patients! X- rays allow us to see what we can not see with our naked eye. We use dental x-rays as diagnostic and preventative measures! This small step can save our patients a lot of money and discomfort. Due to early detection, they can help us keep the teeth healthy for many many years ideally our... life time!! X-Rays serves many benefits, here are some: -They help us see the dental decay (cavities) in between the teeth, which happen to be the most common area for cavities. -They also allow us to detect cavities that are hidden underneath the fillings. -Monitor the bone levels. -Helps to see infection (abscess), around or at the tip of the root of our teeth. -Allows us to check for cysts or impacted teeth that can cause trouble.

Did you know this about acidic drinks? The acids from these drinks pulls the calcium out of the tooth structure. This mineral is needed to help strengthen the teeth, and losing this mineral can cause your enamel to wear away! ... Our recommendation is to avoid consumption of acidic drinks. If you do decide to continue, rather than continuously sipping, we suggest finishing in one sitting. This reduces the exposure of these acids to our teeth. Each sip is like an acid attack on our teeth Fun fact : Consuming protein rich foods right after the acidic food will help neutralize the acidity levels in your mouth faster! See more

She has helped our clinic grow in many ways, and helped shape it into what it is today. "I've learnt so much working alongside Anila and Carla. After learning more about the profession and witnessing the real difference they make in people's lives in relation to their oral and overall health, I knew this was what I wanted to be doing as well!" Why flossing is so important? 1. Flossing reaches areas of the tooth that a toothbrush cannot - Brushing alone misses 40% of tooth surfaces! 2. Plaque often accumulates where teeth touch, which can lead to cavities between your teeth 3. Flossing toughens your gums and builds up a barrier against infection - When gums are not tough and bleed, they act as an open portal to your blood stream and can carry bacteria to the rest of your body... 4. Without flossing, food can get caught between teeth and start to ferment or decay inside your mouth It doesn't matter the time of the day, as long as you floss your teeth once a day! See more

Today, Anila sits down to discuss a frequently asked question we get at Clean Smiles Dental Hygiene Clinic - why should I visit Clean Smiles? 1. We are all about prevention! 2. There are two ways of treating in dentistry: Proactively and Reactively. Dentists treat reactively, they fix dental problems once they have occurred. 3. We act proactively, we try to avoid these dental problems from happening in the first place, OR if you’ve had dental problems in the past, we give ...tools and create customized treatment plans so you don’t experience these problems again in the future. 4. We are able to take our own digital x-rays here in our clinic, we can read them and diagnose cavities, etc., and then guide you in the right direction. 5. Our focus stays prevention, rather than continually fixing dental problems. See more

We are gearing up for back to school excitement and sharing our top 6 tips for getting kids excited to care for their teeth! 1. Let them pick their own toothbrush with a fun character so they feel involved. 2. Get an electric toothbrush that includes an app to play a game while they brush. For example, Mcleans has a great app called Nurdle time (free to download)!... 3. Brush your teeth in front of them or take time to do it together. Children are sponges and are always watching us. 4. Have a few different flavors of toothpastes available so they feel they have some autonomy! 5. Create a reward system to provide them with immediate satisfaction. For example, a gold star sticker chart with a monthly incentive for getting all their brushes in! This could be something fun like a trip to the zoo, or water slides, or a bike ride! 6. Create a schedule and specific time as tooth brushing time. Children thrive off structure so be sure to make a consistent routine and stick to it. See more
