COVID Update--Enhanced Protocols At Copperhaven School, student and staff safety remain a top priority. With the targeted health measures in place for Edmonton and surrounding area (including all of Parkland School Division), and with the recent declaration of an Outbreak at Copperhaven School, we know you are more concerned about keeping yourself and your child(ren) safe.... To help limit the potential spread of COVID-19 in our school and in our community, Copperhaven is implementing enhanced measures when it comes to mask wearing while in school. This school protocol will be reassessed after the province reassesses their latest targeted health measures. Although the use of masks is only one of the we can take to help curb the spread of COVID-19, we are confident these enhanced protocols will help to keep our students and staff safe, while maintaining our classroom cohorts. There will be circumstances at school in which masks will not be required (e.g. outdoor activities or activities in which students and staff maintain appropriate physical distancing) and we will be sure to respect those needs. Other masking requirements, as part of the Alberta Education , outside of classrooms remain unchanged. Students and staff must continue to use the each day prior to coming to school and to . While at school, we continue to encourage frequent hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer whenever possible. If you have questions regarding this change, please contact the school at 780-571-8488 or Stay Safe and Healthy

Parents: A reminder that your children should not be arriving at school prior to 8:45 in the morning. Arrivals prior to this time, and there are a lot, are not supervised resulting in students forgetting to physically distance and maintain safe distances. Please make adjustments to your morning routine so that arrival time is 8:45 which will coincide with the start of outdoor supervision and our first bell at 9:00. Thank you for your cooperation.

Option 2 Virtual with Teacher Support Learners Thank you to our students and families who chose option 2 for the start of the school year, for your patience as we work to prepare for virtual learning. We have been busy compiling a list of students who will be in virtual classrooms and hiring the teachers necessary to meet the needs of the learners. Parkland Village School, Prescott Learning Center and Copperhaven School are teaming together to provide progamming for option 2 students. By the end of this week those families who have notified their home school that they are choosing option 2 will receive further information about programming. If, by Friday afternoon you have not received an email, please first, check your junk mail, and then call the school.

Dear Parents and Guardians, Another short update for families as our opening day of school draws near. By now you should have received an email indicating your child/ren's staggered entry date for starting school. In this email, I am sending a link to the Parent Handbook for Re-Entry for Copperhaven School. You will find our handbook on our school website so that any changes can be easily made and the document kept up to date. Parents Handbook for Copperhaven School Re-Entry ....pdf (if this link doesn't work look for the Parent Handbook for Re-Entry on our school website) Please note that according to Alberta Health Services guidelines for school re-entry, visitors, including parents are limited in their access to the school. Please look to the Parent Handbook for more information. We know that this will be a big change from our usual practice in non-pandemic years. All teachers will be reaching out to families to let you know how the first day for students will unfold. Please be assured that your child/ren's teacher will be meeting your child on their first day and helping them find their way into the school. No child will be left to navigate the new situation alone. All staff and students are required to complete the self-screening checklist daily. Link for self-screen for symptoms each day that they enter the school using the Alberta Health Daily Checklist. https://open.alberta.ca//covid-19-relaunch-daily-checklist
