Happy New Year! In an effort to do a better job of promoting missions giving, I want to remind everyone that tomorrow, the first Sunday of the month is designated as missions giving Sunday. Thank you for your giving and faithfulness in 2020! Let’s start 2021 off right!

Good evening Cornerstone. I have been asked to provide New Year's greetings to everyone. As 2020 draws to a close, a lot of us can't wait for it to end. It has definitely been a year of painful trials for many and forced CMC to shut down what this church was created to do. However, throughout this pandemic, we have seen plenty of people rise up and remind us of the good God created in us. While we have heard, through the news, of terrible stories of personal loss and tragedy,... we have also seen stories of triumph over adversity and witnessed, first hand, our families growing deeper in love due to being able to spend so much quality time with our children. And while the pandemic forced us to shut down our church services and outreach ministries, it also forced us to be creative in how we hold our church ministries, having to switch our services to being held solely online and our Supper Bowl to a take-out format. As 2021 begins, we have a lot of hope to hold on to. Hope in that we live in a province that is doing such a great job in keeping everyone safe and should continue to do so. Hope in a variety of vaccines that will soon allow us to get back to some resemblance of normality and resume our ministries full-time. But, most of all, we have hope in a God who loves us and has the power to overcome all adversity. It is through Him, that we also have the power to overcome adversity. If I were to close out 2020 with a scripture or start 2021 with a scripture, I would choose Romans 12:12 - Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Let us all be fervent in prayer for our Lord, Jesus, will see us through these trying times. From all of us at Cornerstone, we thank you for your continued support and patience over the last year and look forward to the plans that God has for us throughout 2021. As scripture says, his plans are always for us to prosper and we can't wait to see what that prosperity looks like. Happy New Year to all of you, from all of us! Continue to stay safe! Continuing with our Days of Community Series. Cornerstone Ministry Centre is a community church located in the heart of downtown St. John's. Our mission statem...ent at Cornerstone is, we are a church in the heart of the city, for the heart of the city; this belief fuels every action, plan, and purpose within our community. Throughout the week, Cornerstone is a home base for numerous community programs that strive to grow individuals' spirituality, social and communicable skills, and areas of personal character development. Driven by its passionate and dedicated volunteers, Cornerstone aims to provide a sense of belonging, love, and compassion to each person in our community. We acknowledge the impact COVID 19 has brought to our services availability; no longer can we gather for family-style meals or supportive community groups, instead we stand 6 feet apart, ‘social distancing,’ in efforts to do our best and our part to keep our ‘family-close’ community safe at this time. Although the current global pandemic has shifted the form in which Cornerstone serves its community - the purpose and passion for doing so has not been lost - we strive to do more and learn as we do so, each day, for the community around us all. Good afternoon everyone! Many of our congregation have been reporting issues with the online giving portal on our website. It was reported that, after they fill in the online form and click submit, it goes to a blank white screen, and not the Moneris transaction screen. This has been identified as an issue with the Google Chrome browser. It is under investigation. In the meantime, I have tested several browsers and found Firefox, Opera and Microsoft Edge to work just fine.
