It is an index used by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, for the purposes of determining which countries are succeeding in promoting oral care. DMFT stands for Decayed, Missing and Filled Teeth. The index score expresses the number of teeth out of 20 that fall into one of these three categories. Dental erosion is the loss of tooth enamel caused by acids in the food and drinks we consume. Enamel is the hard, protective coating of the tooth. Erosion may lead to pain and sensitivity. Sodas and pop can cause erosion, some fruit, particularly citrus like lemon and orange contain natural acids which can be harmful to your teeth if you have a lot of them often. If you are going to consume these, do so with a meal to reduce the number of acid attacks on your teeth and use a... straw to avoid contact with your teeth. Water is the best drink for teeth and milk is also good because it helps to cancel out the acids in your mouth. In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, and with everyones safety and health in mind, your next appointment will look a little different than usual. Heres a little breakdown so you know what to expect! 1. When you book your appointment, we will ensure we have your updated contact information as we will need to send you a COVID-19 screening the day before your appointment. 2. When you arrive for your appointment, please wait in your vehicle and call/text us to let us know y...ou have arrived. We will let you know when it is safe to come in. 3. Please wear a mask or cloth face covering into the building. Use hand sanitizer as soon as you enter. 4. We will take your temperature and do the COVID-19 screening again for the patient as well as for any essential person accompanying the patient if necessary. Accompanying person must also wear a mask into the building. 5. You will then be escorted to your dental treatment room. 6. Patients are instructed to use hand sanitizers again before leaving. 7. Anyone who displays any symptoms of COVID-19 within 14 days of their appointment is asked to report this to us as soon as possible. 8. We are limiting the number of people who can be in our waiting area. Hence we ask that only one parent/guardian attend the appointment with their child, or one individual for anyone who requires assistance. By being mindful of these guidelines, together we can prevent the spread of COVID-19, and ensure the safety and health of our patients, staff and families. The program also records the researchers spoken comments and tracks their eye movements noting when they hesitate for a fraction of a second on a particular spot, for example. Once the data is collected, the AI program will give its assessment of the x-rays, flagging any with suspected abnormalities, and will compare with the analysis of the prof...essionals. Even if the results are promising, years will be needed for the AI to assimilate enough data before its ready to be used in a real-world setting. Two months ago we were looking forward to returning to dentistry but with the science and regulations constantly evolving, it had all of us feeling anxious. We implemented procedures and protocols and you as patients were all so great to follow them! Our team worked tirelessly to ensure that every effort is being made to reduce traffic in the office and increase physical distance measures, additional environmental cleaning methods and patient and staff screenings so that we can keep the community, themselves and their families safe. Though we still face uncertainty around COVID in the coming months ahead, it makes me feel so proud knowing that we are giving our all and that my team feels comfortable coming to work each day. Good oral health habits start early!
