Another great experience hosting the Into the Wild fundraiser celebrating the Canadian bush pilots at the Canadian Museum of Flight! I love history and we heard from some fascinating guests like 89 year old Peggy Hobbs (sharp as a tack, dapper and beautiful) who was Dr. Pickup's nurse in the north where he'd fly out to a remote spot, pick up the injured person, fly them back and immediately operate. There were times when he'd examine the patient, realize he'd never ever performed the procedure, run out of the O.R. grab and book and figure out what to do! (Always scary when you are on a gurney and your Dr. is holding a yellow & black book entitled, "Spleen Removal for Dummies!!")
