It’s #TeamTalkTuesday and this month we are taking a stance against bullying. CYBERBULLYING is using online and mobile technology to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated & hostile manner. HERE ARE FOUR STEPS TO STOP CYBERBULLYING:... STOP: Don’t try to reason with or talk to someone who is cyberbullying you. BLOCK: Use the block sender technology to prevent the person from contacting you again. TALK: Tell a trusted adult, inform your school, use a help line and/or report it to police. SAVE: Save any instant messages or emails you receive from the person bullying you, or capture any comments or images that have been posted online. 2/3 of youth have faced bullying over their cell phones or online. Three out of ten bullied students reported missing school at least once during the year because of cyberbullying. Bullying is a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes, and online. Over the month of February, and throughout the year, Chew Chew Pediatric Dentistry and the TREC Dental family are supporting CKNW Kids' Fund's Pink Shirt Day, which aims to raise awareness of these issues, as well as raise funds to support programs that foster children’s healthy self-esteem. While bullying affects so many people physically, emotionally and mentally, we know there are many students, parents, schools and community members that want to know what they can do to help. Whether it’s joining us in wearing pink on February 24, 2021 to show you’re taking a stand, or making an effort to practice kindness and acceptance, or even giving a donation or fundraising for programs that make a difference, EVERY contribution can change a life.
