Great job in the campaign Larry! You were one of the highlights of our debates! Thank God Garvey seems to be gone although I still have a cough which I’ve dubbed the Garvey Cough because it won’t seem to go away and shows up at the most inopportune moments! In any case well done and thank you for your kind congratulatory message. All the best - Lenore xx

AN INVITATION We will officially nominate our candidate Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Masstown United Church (upper room) One person has expressed an interest in seeking the nomination and has successfully been vetted by the federal party. Larry Duchesne. That's me lol.... I currently am Financial Agent for our Electoral District Association and have a long history of service to our party. For me, it's all about social democracy and all the good things it has to offer. Like a national pharmacare program, a real commitment to the struggle against climate change, progressive labour legislation and much more. We need your help if we are to mount a successful campaign. Larry

COLCHESTER NORTH REBORN Good News: One of the electoral districts within our federal EDA has been reactivated. The Colchester North EDA has been reborn with an excellent leadership group including Debra Banting as President; Carol Ferguson as financial agent ; Shawn Foley as Vice-President; and Jim Harris and Doreen Harris as Executive-At-Large. Male provincial council rep is Shawn with Jim as alternate. Female council rep is Debra with Carol as alternate. ... The EDA reconstruction was enabled by Betsy MacDonald, caucus outreach person for our area, who is also our party's candidate in Central Nova for the October general federal election. The EDA executive was elected at a meeting held in Masstown United Church on Saturday, June 22. The new executive plans to add additional members in the near future. See more

The Climate Change Crisis is here. I’ve signed this Greenpeace Pact for a #GreenNewDeal for Canada and plan to attend the upcoming meeting in Halifax. Not only that but as NSNDP Environment Spokesperson I have introduced many bills designed to address environmental degradation and climate change including my Private Member’s Bill, An Act to Redress Environmental Racism, as well as An Environmental Bill of Rights, The Green Jobs Act, An Act to Ban Plastic Bags, An Act... to Ban Tire-Burning and other thoughtful green legislation. Will you join me and sign the pact? We need everyone onboard to halt the #ClimateChangeCrisis. We’re rising together to build a Green New Deal. Arctic permafrost is melting, forests, towns, and Indigenous territories are burning. States of emergency declared for once-in-a-century floods are becoming commonplace, and millions around the world already face dislocation and starvation. But that’s not the only thing keeping us up at night. Many of us are struggling to find an affordable place to live, or a decent job to support our families. Hate crimes and racism are on the rise. And promises to Indigenous peoples have yet to be implemented. We need an ambitious plan to deal with multiple crises at the same time. A bold and far reaching plan to cut emissions in half in 11 years in line with Indigenous knowledge and climate science, create more than a million good jobs you can support a family with, and build inclusive communities in the process. We need a Green New Deal for everyone. And we need everyone to be a part of building it. Will you join the movement for a Green New Deal?

In the chapter, Singh opens up about the racism he faced as a boy in Windsor, Ont. because of the colour of his skin and his head covering.
