February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate and highlight the best of Black History and culture, and to honour the ancestors and upcoming leaders of Bl...ack communities, their accomplishments and their continued fight for liberation. This year we are profiling Jennifer Hodge de Silva, a Montréal-born documentary filmmaker whose ground-breaking work traced the experiences of Black Canadians and gave voice to the many ethnically diverse communities that shape our country.

Join CUPE members from across the country to explore human rights concerns in the context of COVID-19, and to strategize on how to create a more just post-pandemic world. Early Bird registration closes end of day February 5, 2021.
On December 6, we mark the anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre, where 14 women were singled out and murdered because of their gender. One of th...ose women, Maryse Laganière, was a CUPE member who worked at the school. On this day, we join with millions of Canadians, in unions and organizations of all kinds, to encourage our members to learn more, bargain and take action.
December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities - a day that provides us an opportunity to focus on the challenges and barriers that persons with disabilities experience in our workplaces, unions and communities. #IDPWD #ActiveInclusion #DisabilityDay Read more: https://cupe.ca/event/international-day-persons-disabilities
Nov 20, 2020 On November 20, we remember Two-Spirit and transgender people hurt and killed by transphobia and transmisogyn, in and outside the workplace. We renew our commitment to dismantling these and other systems of oppression that exploit and harm trans people: class, colonialism, white supremacy, ableism, patriarchy and homophobia. Trans people at the intersections of those systems face the highest rates of discrimination, harassment and violence.
Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is on November 20. Two-Spirited People of Manitoba Inc and Manitoba Moon Voices Inc. are hosting an online event to remember our relatives. Email [email protected]
