Earlier this year, the NDP government posted on their website that I had taken illegal funds to support my campaign. I resigned from my nomination race to deal with these statements that were made. An investigation was conducted and I was completely cleared and no offense was found. NOTE: the NDP government did not claim that they were suspicious that a criminal act occurred, they blatantly stated that it DID occur without checking facts causing damage to my reputation. I ...am pleased to share the correspondence I received from the Office of the Election Commissioner clearing me of all accusations made by the NDP government. It is disappointing when any elected official chooses to try to win an election by trying to cause damage to one’s reputation, instead of focusing on the real issues at hand that affect our Province. My call to action is for all Albertans to please choose your elected officials wisely in the next election. Do not support any candidate from any party who chooses to engage in these kind of smoke and mirror tactics. We need elected officials who genuinely care about our Province rather than their own personal agendas. Elected officials are supposed to represent our best interests as Albertans. Is the person you are choosing representing yours? Choose wisely Our future depends on it!

Do you want to know what true class and professionalism looks like? Let me tell you a story. After the NDP government accused me of taking illegal corporate donations, I stepped out of the UCP nomination race in order to address this issue with the Courts. In doing so, I gave my support to fellow nomination candidate Cindy Ross. The day before the vote, the NDP sent a press release out about Ms. Ross making a comment several years ago against Muslims. It wasn’t a very fav...orable remark to the Muslim community. Ms. Ross acknowledges this. What the NDP didn’t tell you is that after that comment was made years ago, she did receive some diversity training and no longer has this view she expressed in the past. In fact she doesn’t even legitimately recall making the comment. But the negative exposure was enough to enrage people and it is likely a big part of the reason she lost the race in Fishcreek, despite being a favourite in the polls. But this is only the background for the real story that needs to be shared. Usman Mahmood is a Muslim man, also running for a UCP nomination in Calgary McCall. When he learned about Cindy Ross’ comment from many years ago, he didn’t get angry. He didn’t write her off as a candidate. He didn’t post negative comments about Ms. Ross. Instead, he reached out to me to get connected with Cindy Ross so he could invite her to visit the mosque with her and take her for dinner. Tolerance, education and understanding wins the day! Cindy and Usman Ozzy are planning their visit to the Mosque as we speak. THIS is TRUE leadership! And THESE are the kind of leaders this Province needs. Not ones that will take an unfortunate situation and expose it for personal gain, but ones who have the ability to take an unfortunate situation and make it better! What Ozzy has done in reaction to Cindy Ross’ negative press is the kind of thing the media should get excited about. There should be a press release about Ozzy’s actions! On a side note...does anyone know if it’s our Albertan tax paying dollars that the NDP uses to hire people to dig up old dirt on people to try to rid the party of excellent UCP candidates? Going back so many years just to find something certainly must take a lot of work! They must be getting scared if this is what they resort to instead of focusing on real issues. What a shame. But back to the REAL story... If you live in Calgary McCall - vote for Usman Ozzy. He is the real deal! And don’t forget about Cindy Ross in 4 years time when she runs again and when I run again.

At 3:46pm today I officially withdrew my application to run for the UCP nomination in Fishcreek. I did not step down because of any negative comments posted about me nor did I step down because of the criminal allegations made against me by the NDP government. I stepped down for 2 reasons: ...Continue reading

So I’ve had an interesting few days where a few things have occurred that had left me feeling somewhat disheartened about our upcoming election. Unnecessary mud slinging for instance, that really serves no purpose other than a poor attempt to devalue another person and/or their reputation. I expected a bit of this, being the nature of politics but not to the extent of accusations of criminal activity that could have the potential to not only discredit a person as a candid...Continue reading
