International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on Aug 31st each year, which aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died or had a permanent injury as a result of drug overdose. - The opioid crisis has been hardest felt in BC, which declared a public health emergency in 2016. In 2019, there were 1510 drug overdose deaths recorded in BC,... which represented 4.5 times the deaths from motor vehicle accidents.
