Today is Blue Monday. The third Monday of January has been awarded the gloomy title due to a combination of post-Christmas blues, cold dark nights, and the arrival of unpaid credit card bills. Remember to practice self-care. 5 ways to beat the blues:... 1. Go to bed earlier. Sleep is a great stress reliever. 2. Eat properly and take breaks today. 3. Meet a friend (virtually) and have a good laugh! 4. Get some exercise. Enjoy the rare Vancouver Blue Sky today and get out for a walk. 5. If you are feeling stressed, take some time to practice mindfulness. #BlueMonday #SelfCare #MentalHealth #Support #CovidResponse

November 13-19, 2020 is Transgender Awareness Week. Transgender Awareness Week is a week when transgender people and their allies take action to bring attention to the community by educating the public about who transgender people are, sharing stories and experiences, and advancing advocacy around the issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence that affect the transgender community. Transgender Awareness Week leads up to the Transgender Day of Remembrance - November 20,... 2020. The Transgender Pride Flag was created by American trans woman Monica Helms in 1999, and was first shown at a pride parade in Phoenix, Arizona, United States in 2000. The flag represents the transgender community and consists of five horizontal stripes: two light blue, two pinks, and one white in the center.
