ANNOUNCEMENT: DLN closing for the month of March 2021. deaflearnnow.ca https://deaflearnnow.ca/survey/ Description: White woman with blonde hair and ponytail, wearing brown glasses and a navy sweater. She is communicating in ASL.... Script: Hello! Hope you are doing well. Deaf Learn Now, otherwise known as DLN, wants to let you know that we’ve been really busy running our programs, so we decided to close for the month of March 2021. No new registrations will be accepted during this time, and our current students can continue working independently on their courses. During this time, the DLN team will be focussing on developing new courses, such as an English course, a Driver’s Education preparation course, and others. We will also be improving the website and upgrading existing courses. Basically, we will be working hard to enhance our program. We will be back up and running in April, so feel free to reach out and contact us then. For the new courses, we will let you know when they are available, which will be soon. Stay safe!

Description: White woman with glasses wearing a light brown t-shirt signing in ASL. Script: Hello everyone. I just wanted to share some good news with you regarding the province of Ontario with the exception of a few cities, but for the rest of the province we are now in stage three. This means more stores and businesses are now open; people can go out more. Although of course, we still have to wear our masks, wash our hands and stay physically distanced from others. Schools... are still closed, and many large events have been cancelled. Outdoor activities still have limitations on them as well. So, if you are staying at home and wondering what it is you can do to stay engaged, perhaps you want to learn something new. Then why not try Deaf Learn Now courses which are free? All of the courses are presented in both American Sign Language and written English. Some examples of the courses we have to offer: 1. We have Facts About Canada where you can learn about the history, culture and foods of Canada. 2. We have a WHMIS course that you can take. You will be tested, and if you pass, we will send you your WHMIS certification which you can use on your resume. 3. We also have a course to help you develop your resume if you’re looking to apply for work. 4. If you are interested in working in a restaurant or anything related to food, we offer a Basic Food Safety course which helps you prepare if you want to take certification offered by other places. 5. If you want to become a Canadian citizen, we have a citizenship course to help you prepare so you can practice before you go to do your citizenship test. I have told you about a number of different courses that we offer, but that is not all of them. If you’d like to know what other courses we have, have a look on our Deaf Learn Now website or you can contact me directly. The courses are tuition-free because the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) has provided funding to George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario. Our team has been busy working on developing courses based on what you have told us you need. Based on that feedback, we developed courses that can help achieve your goals. For example, if you want to go to college or university, we have courses for that. For example, if you are looking for employment or need some type of certification, we have courses for that. Perhaps you simply want to increase your knowledge and independence, there are courses for that too. Our team has worked hard to provide you to support you on your journey of learning. Once you register on DLN, you will have access to courses and you can pick and choose which ones you would like to take that matches your ambition. If you happen to have difficulty or are struggling with a question, there is a teacher to help you work through allowing you to feel more confident as you move forward. We also have games that were designed specifically for Deaf people. If you were wondering Does Deaf Learn Now suit me? Go ahead and give it a try.
