"Comparison is the thief of joy" is a quote that has really hit home for me recently. . It can be so easy for us to compare our progress and the progress of our dog's training to those around us. This is especially true for those of us who are working with reactive or fearful dogs. . Behavior modification training can take lots of time, patience and practice to begin seeing the results we're hoping for. My latest blog post is dedicated to everyone who's struggling to make th...e progress they want with their dog's training. . Change takes time. It can be frustrating at times but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need some help! . Several years ago, I became a Dog Behaviourist in an effort to help animals and their caregivers find better ways of communicating with each other. My mission was to provide the most up-to-date, science-based methods to my clients and show people that we can use positive reinforcement to help our dogs. So many of us were raised to believe we must be forceful to teach our pets, but through my years of experience and learning from all sorts of animals with all kinds of trauma, ...I've found this couldn't be further from the truth. We all start off with the best intentions when we first bring an animal into our homes and families. However, sometimes things come up that we're not prepared for. Sometimes our good intentions leave us feeling defeated and desperate for some guidance. My goal is to provide a lifeline to those who need some help in a difficult situation. The Covid-19 crisis has left many of us feeling isolated, confused and nervous for our futures. It has left its impact on everyone in every field of business. Though these times can be tough, I still want to provide that lifeline for you. Although I can no longer offer in-home training sessions, I am offering online training that you can access through your phone or computer. With an online training program, we can follow the same structure as our regular appointments to accomplish your goals. Though nothing could have prepared us for this craziness that we're dealing with right now, I believe it will help us grow and allow us to become more creative and innovative. I'm excited to share this journey with all of you and know that we will come out of this stronger than before. If you or someone you know is struggling right now with dogs, be it a new puppy that needs some training or a more serious case, please don't hesitate to reach out. It’s my pleasure to serve you and I’m always here to help when you need it! Photo credit: Dunja G. Photography

In light of recent events surrounding Covid-19, I am now offering online training sessions as an attempt to help with social distancing. If you currently have training sessions scheduled, please let me know if you would rather do an online session or resume our regular training program. I am currently following all the procedures recommended by Health Canada but I would highly suggest that anyone who is feeling under the weather or has been out of the country in the past two weeks to please reschedule our sessions. I can also offer online training sessions for those who would rather not wait to reschedule their appointments. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue. Thanks so much for your patience at this difficult time!

Life long dream come true! Just hung out with some massive Komodo Dragons! . Words can't begin to explain how much joy this trip to the komodo islands has brought me! I felt like I was walking with living dinosaurs! . Did you know that these incredible reptiles actually secrete venomous saliva to take down their prey? They use their shark-like teeth to puncture the skin/muscle of their prey and then wait for the animal to succumb to their poison. Although a bite from a k...omodo dragon can kill a human in a few hours; for others like the Water Buffalo, it can take almost a week. That's no problem for the dragons though as they can easily go weeks without eating a meal and will calmly follow the animal around until it inevitably falls. . These reptiles might look super lazy in these pictures but they can actually run at speeds of 20km/h! Like many other reptiles, they conserve their energy throughout the day and can snap or sprint with absolutely no warning. The males of the species can also weigh up to 91kg and will eat just about anything, including their own young! . This was an absolutely unforgettable experience for me! With the park possibly shutting down next year to help replenish some of the ecosystem, my hope is that these amazing creatures will be able to thrive without human interference and bring their numbers to a more sustainable number. . . . #dogtrainer #animalbehavior #komododragon #komodoisland #indonesia #wildlifeofindonesia #reptilesofinstagram #onceinalifetime #travelabroad #travelindonesia #wildlifephotography @ Komodo Island, Indonesia See more

Having such a blast in Bali! . Went to some beautiful Temples on the southern coast where I was given some traditional sarongs to wear. Of course, it wouldn't be a good trip without spending some time feeding some bananas to a few Macaque monkeys. . I also became a certified Freediver in a quiet fishing village (with some spectacular diving) on the north-east coast of Bali. I'm proud to say that I made it to 13.5 meters on one breath! It might sound impressive to those wh...o have never tried the sport, but I still have a lot of training to do before I can truly call myself a Freediver. . Unfortunately, since I'm not traveling with a laptop, I'll have to wait to upload all my diving videos when I get home. Now I just need to finish my open water scuba diving course and will then be off to another island adventure! . . . #dogtrainer #dogbehaviourist #baliindonesia #balitravel #solotravel #travelabroad #explorebali #balidiving #freediveindonesia #baliwildlife @ Tulamben, Bali See more

Greetings from sunny Australia! Could this trip get any better? After exploring beautiful Gold Cost, I made my way to Byron Bay and decided to jump out of a plane at 15,000ft. It was such an amazing experience and the beach landing was incredible! I've only been here for a few days and am so in love with this incredible place! I'm so lucky to have my family here to take me to the best local spots!... Can't wait to see where I end up next! Neno Radovic

It's getting pretty cold out there this time of year! . It's easy to forget that our dogs can get cold in this weather, especially when they're having fun frolicking through the snow! It's important to remember that some dogs, especially those with less fur covering their body, can be effected by the cold conditions outside. . Sweaters, jackets and even booties for their paws can help your dog stay comfortable when going for walks in the snow. There are even specialized c...reams/wax that you can put on your pup's paws to help stop ice and snow buildup while they're walking. . So, how cold is too cold for a dog? The second picture can give you a general idea of when it might be a good idea to give your pup some kind of protection from the cold. . Always keep in mind, puppies and senior dogs will have more trouble regulating their body temperature so they will need extra care when the temperature drops! . . . #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram #dogbehavior #coldweather #puppytraining #dogtrainingtips #puppytrainingtips #sweaterweather #coldoutside @ Saskatoon, Saskatchewan See more
