Consistency is key Embrace your inner-self whole heartedly. We are not what social media makes of us...we are real, authentic true to our self. Our energy from within affects those around us. Draw on kind thoughts, look within to make a difference and make decisions with warmth and caring for yourself first and eventually this will affect those around you for the positive. Too often we ignore the signs of stress and how social media affects our day to day interactions. Take... time for you. Don’t ignore those warning signs. If you are feeling off, draw on those feelings...centre, focus, breathe in and release it all. Those negatives thoughts do not serve you. One of the biggest obstacles is the belief that we can’t do something. Or that were not good enough. Or that we don’t meet the perfect standards of our sport or our school or our work. Give up the societal pressures to be perfect and focus on what brings you joy! If you play a sport that demands technical excellence and the focus is on that...choose to focus on what you enjoy most about that sport as it is in-the moment experiences that win over your love and your love for ...the sport, for yourself and for performance in whatever you are doing is the single most important facet. Then your standards will be met. We seek validation from others when if fact we should be seeking it from ourselves. What appears perfect on the outside may in fact not be perfect on the inside, so don’t be disillusioned by this. Work on gaining self-confidence that radiates from the inside out and everything else will follow. Be proud of who you are and what you stand for, know your values and stand by them. Your thoughts control your actions. What you say to yourself is what you get! I was working with a client first thing this morning and it was a nice reminder that what you can conceive you can achieve. This said client name remains anonymous for confidentiality purposes had suffered a severe stroke a few months earlier was so quick to recover his occupational therapists could hardly believe it. He surpassed others who had suffered less severe brain injuries and was sent home ...from special hospital care determined to get back to everyday living. Our brains are fascinating...the neuroplascity has always fascinated me and the more we understand that we control a lot of what we do including our movement by training our thoughts and what we chose to say to ourselves. Pursue your passion. Life will set up all kinds of obstacles in front you...but your true test of character is how you navigate these challenges. Some people will try to drive right through them as their passion supersedes any obstacles. Let your passion drive you and nothing will stand in your way. Too often when I ask people why they choose to do something and commit their time to it and their answer is they do it because they have to, or because their parent wants them to...do it for you. Choose things you are passionate about. There may be sacrifices, time spent with friends etc...but always pursue your passion. You wont regret it. Morning, afternoon or evening rituals. your choice. Find a way to build it into your day. Lets talk training today. Find one thing that gets you up and moving and it can be any time of the day. Go for a walk, lift weights, bike ride, hike just one thing that you do everyday. Remember if you are training for sport be sure to integrate with your competitive programs. ... Yes, move!!! But lets also use your mind for focus and control. Centre your attention on one thing, an object focus for 30 seconds without allowing any distractions to slip in. If a distraction occurs refocus your attention on the object. If your are a competitive athlete choose an object that is used in your sport...a golf ball, puck, stick, club, soccer ball... Did you know that mental toughness is a trait that can be measured and has a huge impact on your ability to overcome adversity and failure and strive for success. Athletes who possess mental toughness and resiliency can overcome setbacks and learn from their mistakes in pursuit of their dreams. What you might now know is this trait is malleable and it can be trained. You can take a mental toughness survey to first determine your level of resiliency and then I can design a program that helps you to develop this important sport, health and life attribute.

The foundation of any relationship whether it be with yourself or others is to build trust. Building trust in our own abilities is a good place to start. To believe in oneself and eliminate any self doubt we can change our self-talk. It starts with you. Create a routine incorporating healthy self-talk practices. I am good enough. I am strong! I have a purpose. I have good values!
Choose activities and set goals that empower you. During these COVID times, we have to feel a sense of control over the decisions we make to improve our sport performance and health. Start by choosing activities that challenge you but that are specific achievable, realistic, timely, and measurable. Set your sights on what you hope for but each day set one goal to motivate you on your journey.
