This reminds me of the night I was working ER and was arranging an Aeromedical transfer for a patient with a brain bleed when I received the call that my mother had ironically also suffered a brain bleed. I finished my shift and then rushed to her side. She was unconscious and died in the days to follow. Although this video speaks generally to the concept of "don't judge until you walk a mile in my shoes" it also highlights the personal sacrifice of physicians - we are here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Christmas, our children's birthdays, and when our family is sick and dying. My children ask me, "why do you have to go in Dad?" My response, "because someone will die if I don't." Being a doctor is NOT a career; rather it is a calling.

I am in full agreement with a fair workplace where hard work is rewarded. An agreement was reached! Unfortunately, OPSEU went nuclear and has created a disastrous and toxic workplace environment within which doctors are unable to trust their employees - a CODE RED situation when dealing with people’s lives. How does Smokey propose for the office to run when these employees return? There is no solution and if Owen Sound wishes to preserve their medical care they would be ...best to support their trusted physicians before the physicians leave! There are many opportunities all over the province - Sarnia could use 2-3 good family physicians! Even then I fear the employees, pawns in this battle, will no longer be able to work within the FHO office. Furthermore, they are now blacklisted from other physicians’ office. They would not be able to trust them to have their back and to have their patients’ back. I hope OPSEU is willing to financially support these employees whose career they have now ruined.

Good afternoon. I am in the office going through the charts of Dr Rankin's former patients. I am excited to meet all of you as you come in for appointments. As a quick heads-up - we will be moving offices within 481 London Road on July 30/31. Our new office will be on the second level of 481 London Road at the very back. We are opening our new addition. Federal Government proposes tax changes that will dramatically hurt small businesses. Most will raise rates, lay off staff, and reduce services. Food will cost more. Clothing will cost more. Convenience store prices will go up. Contractors for home renovations will charge more. Legal fees will go up. In the end, the cost of living will go up hurting low to middle income individuals the most. For physicians, we will be forced to lay off staff and reduce services. Wait times ...will grow. Proposed tax changes will dramatically hurt every small business in Canada, including my practice. Since fees are fixed, the only option is cost savings - staff lay offs, longer waits, and less services. Please tell your MP, Marilyn Gladu ([email protected]) that you stand with small business owners and reject the government's proposed tax changes.

The government may now come in to my office, read your personal health information, read the secrets you've shared with me, know if you have mental health challenges, know if you have addiction issues, know what type of cancer you have, know that you smoke, know who is related to you and who lives with you, know if you regularly take opioids, know if you are participating in preventative health, know if you have financial difficulties... It is a dangerous slope when the gover...nment has the power to know everything about you. The central control power the Wynne government has given it self is reminiscent of communist state where central planners tell you where you can go, when you can, and how fast you should go. In reality, the government could use your personal information to charge you a health penalty, limit your personal healthcare, or even worse.
