More often than not the sight of children wiping tables, washing dishes, cleaning floors in a classroom causes parents/guardians to raise their eyebrows. What d...oes it have to do with a child’s development and learning math and language? It turns out all the cleaning, cooking, sweeping is far more important for a child’s development than we can imagine. The skills they learn are also a natural progression of their development from which most children gain great inner satisfaction. Children see a purpose behind the activity. The table is clean; their tummies are full, the floor is not slippery and safe for people to walk on. It gives them a sense of belonging and accomplishment. Children learn to gain control over their bodies, master their movements how much pressure they need to apply on a mop, how quickly they need to move their hand when wiping a table, the concentration they need to possess to pour liquid from a cup. Next time your at home wiping your table, washing a dish, or sweeping, get your children involved. Have them help. Teach them how you clean at home. This will in turn help them gain new skills and confidence.

Eyes childcare is getting festive. The children expressed interest in decorating a tree. We set out materials to create their own ornaments and laminated so th...ey will last for years. Having a tree to display everyone’s own creative ornaments brings a sense of belonging into the centre. We can’t wait to keep adding more beautiful artwork to the tree. Happy Holidays!

Today at EYES, the children were very excited to have some fun in the snow!! The weather was warmer and the snow was soft. The Toddler class pushed around the snow and made a giant snowball. The preschool class formed a giant snow Santa, then added a mask for safety.

Today was a great day!!! Opening day for our Preschool B room!!!! It was filled with lots of sunshine, laughs and good messy fun! Can’t wait to fill our walls with the children’s wonderful creations!
