2020 Specialized Kenevo review Now that I have spent a good amount of time on the Kenevo, I can tell you that yes, it is fantastic however, not necessarily for the downhilling capabilities that this bike has been built for. It is a fantastic descender and I have nothing bad to say about it. This bike is fantastic for it's technical climbing abilities and all around comfort while riding. This is due to a very steep seatpost angle (77 degrees) that makes this ebike, the best cl...imbing ebike I have ever tried. At first, it was strange to be so on top of the front of the bike that it took me a while to get used to it when pedaling and sitting on flat ground as it felt like half cross country half slow steering dual crown bike. There is no denying that a 53 pound bike just needs more input than a 23 pound XC race machine. that being said, I have not been anywhere this Summer that I thought I was on the "wrong bike". I rode easy, intermediate and expert trails up and down so I got a really good feel for this machine. The comfort part is not having to move back and forth on the saddle like I saw my friends on their ebikes on climbs or twisty singletrack. There is big credit to the very torquey Brose motor. This 2.1 version has more power than most legal ebikes right now and it works really well with this brawler of a bike. You pick a line and go! 4 bar linkage suspension have been around for more than 20 years now and in talking to a friend we both are really happy that Specialized made the Kenevo and my friend's Enduro very poppy. I like to jump and so far this is the best jumping ebike I have ever known it requires very little input and voila! you are in the air and loving it. I am now riding in winter conditions and I am happy to report that the bike will fit my 3 inch studded tires that I had from my previous ebike. Speaking of rubber, Specialized specs their own tires and they were ok but most people tend to have favorites and I did see a big improvement when I switched to a Minion 2.6 at the front and I decided to use a Schwalbe Eddy Current 2.8 at the rear. That made climbing even better! I really like the bike and I am thrilled that other bike manufacturers are stepping up their ebike development. Yes there will be better, lighter ebikes in the future, what most people don't realize is that 2020 saw a big improvement in motors, batteries and with 38mm single crown forks now available, 2021 bikes are really really good and Specialized is no exception. Yeah technology!

If you don’t use it you lose it! That is a lesson I am learning more and more these days. Now that I am 50, I fully realize that my health is dependent upon me making time to stay fit and strong. I have been riding the pump track a lot for quick workouts since the track is 10 minutes from my house and an hour of it and I am exhausted. The benefits?... Core strength for strong and stable DH cornering Those Cornering skills get very sharp Work on anticipation by looking at the corner exit Pumping teaches you how to gain speed without pedaling Those skills and fitness were kinda there before, now I feel the difference when I get on my Ebike and I’m really grateful that I decided to give the pump track a go. The best part is that a simple hard tail or a bmx is all you need, a used one will be 500-700$. Really cheap compared to fancy mountain bikes or Ebikes and if you don’t have enough time to go to the mountains, this is a great way to get your biking fix and stay healthy and strong. We are in Fall time all time for riding so how about being able to enjoy it to the max by staying strong and then keeping that fitness in winter by doing other sports or getting studded tires to keep riding, you don’t want to lose all that fitness and skills you gained this year! I know I want to

Early adopters, trail blazers, ahead of the curve. You probably heard those expressions many times for different reasons. Someone was relating how 15 years ago he was upforking his bike giving it a slacker head angle and at the times friends would dismiss him. He is the one laughing now as he knew this was the future. I feel the same sometimes about e-mountain bikes. I know that I am not buying another normally aspirated trail bike and I will buy other e mountain bikes in the... future. Some of my non ebiking friends think that it's just a gimmick and I am lazy. Oh do I ever enjoy seeing the non believers change their mind when they get over themselves and ride one. We are at the dawn of this sport in North America. More companies are making e-bikes, motor manufacturers are improving their products and e-mountain bike specific parts are starting to appear. It is an exciting time we are living in. We have to navigate the next few years carefully as we want to be seen as great ambassadors to this sport to ensure we start to get representation with government agencies. Why is that? we want to ensure we don't get shut out of certain areas because other user groups see us as a threat to the established order. In the past horseback riders made a lot of noise about Mountain bikers and we got pushed out of Mount Assiniboine trails as the horseback rider lobby was very strong and we were not organized as Mountain bikers to have a voice with the government. Alberta is set to finish their review of E-mountain bikes this Fall and I am leery of what conclusion they will reach. Will we get put into limited access or no access like snowboarding in the late 80's? It is only thru advocacy and a few years of efforts that snowboarders were able to regain access to great areas, I really don't want to relive this! I hope that if we do get organized we can have a better voice and educate people on these incredible machines. Let's be nice to other users and call out a*holes whether they are on a regular bike or an e-bike, there is a lot at stake here! Spread the good word!
