Believing in the Supernatural But He said unto them, give ye them to eat. And they said, we have no more but five loaves and two fishes: except we should go and buy meat for all this people Luke 9:13 The disciples approached Jesus with a big problem. The crowd was massive, they were in an isolated area, it was getting late, the people were hungry and there was no food to feed them. Where would they find enough money to buy enough food to feed over five thousand people? So, ...the disciples, in their natural way of thinking, thought it best to ask Jesus to send the people away so they could go into the towns and buy themselves some food. Of course, this didn’t seem unreasonable, they were concerned for the people’s well-being. I love Jesus’ response. You feed them. Telling the disciples to feed them was a call to step out of the natural into the supernatural. In today’s culture we call this thinking outside the box. You see, Jesus wasn’t asking the disciples to do it in their own power, because Jesus said in John 15:5b, that apart from Him we can do nothing. Jesus wanted them to recognize that He can do a lot with the little they had. They must have faith to see beyond the natural. A lesson we can learn here, is that no one who comes to Jesus should ever leave hungry. Jesus wants us today to move from thinking in the natural to believing in the supernatural. He wants us to move to that place of complete trust in Him, where we can say like the apostle Paul, I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. There are no limits, no boundaries, no barriers that can prevent God from working in our lives. We must open ourselves completely to Him and watch miracles of faith unfold through us. Remember, it’s not the challenges or resources that limit us, but our unwillingness to bring what we have to Him. Believe and trust that He is able to magnify whatever you bring to Him and use it to bless others in ways you could never imagine. Be encouraged! Arlene Farrell ESP Worship Centre

Our Good and God’s Glory And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28) KVJ The Apostle Paul declared in Romans 8:28 that God causes ALL things to work for our good. Note that he did not say that only the things we consider good but even those things that we perceive to be bad works for our good. It is easy to receive the good things of life such as the addition of a newborn to our ...family or a promotion at work with much gladness and rejoicing. However, unpleasant circumstances of life such as the death of a loved one or the loss of a job causes us to question God’s sovereignty or even God’s love and care for us. Paul assures us that God doesn’t only cause some things but rather ALL things to work for our good. It’s important for us to also note that this promise of God does not apply universally to everyone, the promise of Romans 8:28 is limited to those who love God and have been called according to God’s purpose. Those who love God express their love for God by their way of life. According to Jesus, love for him and God is predicated on us keeping Christ commandments (John 14:15). Those who love God also love people and love is not self-serving but rather is selfless and sacrificial; it does not boast but it delights in the truth and in well doing. In Ephesians 2:10 Paul said, For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God has prepared beforehand that we walk in them. God is not the source of evil but He does permit afflictions, calamities and trials of various kinds such as financial reversal and even a global pandemic such as Covid-19 as means to test our faith. These trials are not allowed in order to destroy us but rather to ensure or shift our reliance from ourselves to God. As believers we are called to trust God exclusively and to surrender to the plan that He has for our lives. Be reminded that God is a Good Father, that He loves us with an everlasting love and that He has already determined the best course for our lives. This reality works out for our good and for God’s glory! Leslie James ESP Worship Centre
