We, at Ethos Dental Studio, have spent the last weekend listening, understanding and learning about our community and society. As a dental clinic, we see people of different backgrounds and communities every single day, and we strive to make each and every patient feel comfortable and secure while being treated. Our ethos here is, and will always be, rooted in morality and ethics. Our team believes in being socially conscious. Staying aware and abreast of our social condition..., and doing our best to stand up for what is right and just. This quote, seems to be the perfect verbalization on why we all, as a community, need to work towards goodness, even during the most difficult times. We are here to listen and be a part of the change. -Whitney, Rita, Deb, Dr. M

I can’t believe it’s been an entire week since we’ve been back at @ethosdentalstudio ! The response has been overwhelming, and I don’t have the words to express my gratitude. To my patients, thank you for trusting us with your oral health in such an unprecedented time. And to my team, thank you for pulling together so quickly, efficiently and effectively to get our Studio ready with our enhanced protocols in place. It’s been such an incredibly different week, from changing... into NASA’eque jumpsuits for every patient to checking our own temperatures daily, to make sure we are healthy for YOU. The one thing that was magnified, was about my team. They are ALL in. They care as much about Ethos as I do. They make it a point to go above and beyond for each patient and are invested in making Ethos the best dental experience possible. There is no way I could do what I do without the power and support of these amazing women standing by me. I’m so excited to explore this new normal of patient care and I hope I see you all soon! . -Dr M . . . . #dentist #dentistry #dentalcare #dentalteam #dentalassistant #dentalhygienist #oralcare #oralhealth #dentaloffice #smallbusiness #smallbusinessowner #womensupportingwomen

Today’s the day!! We will be (re)opening. For those of you who have not had a chance to check your emails and those of you who aren’t yet our patients, we have new protocols set in place. To operate in the new normal, you’ll notice some changes at Ethos Dental Studio. We’ve always maintained higher than industry standards for sanitization and sterilization, but in a post COVID-19 society, we are implementing addition protocols. We have added 4 levels of additional protectio...n, designed to keep patients and team members safe. Some of the changes you’ll notice are: The waiting room in the clinic will be closed. A team member will great you at your vehicle, ask you a few standard questions (how you are feeling, ask if you have any cold or flu like symptoms etc) and take your temperature. These measures are also in place for all team members, and any team member or patient exhibiting any possible symptoms will be asked to stay home. We will then ask you to complete hand hygiene with hand sanitizer, which will be available at the front desk. We also ask you to wear a mask or facial covering, until you are in the dental chair. Patients will be escorted directly into the dental chair. If you need to use the washroom, we ask you use it at the beginning or end of your appointment. Of course, if you do need to use the facilities during your appointment, that is completely fine. However, minimizing movement in the clinic will be beneficial for all persons in the office. We ask you do not bring any personal items into the Studio. Please leave your bag, purse or bulky outwear in your vehicle or at home. All clinical team members will be wearing additional personal protective equipment, with significantly stricter measures while operating. Walk in appointments cannot not be accepted. Proper sanitization and sterilization is an extensive process, particular in a dental clinic. As always if there is an emergency, please call us, and we will accommodate you. Based on these new measures, we will be waiving any late cancellation fee for patients who exhibit any symptoms. We do ask you to call us as soon as possible, if you need to move your appointment, so we can accommodate another patient who is on our waitlist. COVID-19 is an ever-evolving situation, and we will adjust protocols as more information and research becomes available. Ethos Dental Studio knows this will take some time for all of us to get used to. Now, more than ever, we apricate your support and patience. Ethos is not only a dental clinic, but a small business, and having us as your dental home means the world to us. Thank you and see you soon!

I’m SO excited to let you all know we will be (re)opening tomorrow! I’m so proud of my team for coming together and getting all of our protocols in place so quickly. Our new normal at Ethos Dental Studio will include some participation from you! A) please wear a face mask or face covering. Our front desk staff will greet you at your vehicle, as you some questions and escort your right to the dental chair.... B)Appointments may be longer than usual. We want to minimize the number of times you need to see us. So, if you have multiple fillings or crowns that need to be done, we can accommodate longer appointments, with sufficient breaks for you. C) We will be seeing less patients in a day, as we are disinfection and sanitation protocols. Accordingly, you may not be able to get an appointment as quickly as before. Please take that into consideration when booking. D) We want everyone safe and healthy! We are waiving any short notice cancellation fees for patients if they feel ill. Please check your personal emails (if you are a current patient) for our more detailed protocols. For those of you who aren’t yet a patient, stay tuned for a post regarding those for all our health and safety. We truly appreciate all of our patients who have supported this clinic. Being a non-corporate, locally owned small business, every one of you who have chosen Ethos Dental Studio is supporting a dream and a vision. We thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts. See you soon!! #dentist #dentistry #local #smallbusiness #langley #langleybc #langleydentist #surrey #surreydentist #vancouver #vancouverdentist #dream #dreambig

Periodontitis is a severe gum infection which is caused mainly by lack of flossing and brushing to remove food debris and the bad bacteria in your mouth, but other factors can put you at a higher risk as well such as smoking, type 2 diabetes, obesity, hormonal changes, compromised immune systems such as HIV and cancer, medications that cause dry mouth and even genetics and poor nutrition. Now, that being said, there are a few different stages to Periodontitis. If gingivitis i...s not treated it can turn into Periodontitis. From there it can turn into early, moderate or advanced Periodontitis. With symptoms such as gums that bleed upon brushing and/ or flossing, bad breath, changes in position of teeth or loose teeth, receding gums, red, swollen and even sensitive gums, buildup of plaque or tartar on teeth, soreness when chewing, tooth loss, bad taste in your mouth, even an inflammatory response through your body. With all that effecting your mouth, imagine what it can do to the rest of your body. Periodontitis is linked to strokes, heart disease, diabetes, prenatal issues, as well as Alzheimer’s. You mouth is connected to the rest of your body therefore if you don’t take care of your oral health, it can have repercussions you may not have thought of. Depending on the stage depends on if the Periodontitis you have can be reversed or managed. The only thing advised is to make sure you floss once every day and brush twice every day, along with regular dental cleanings. Make sure you keep the rest of your body healthy as well with proper nutrition and exercise and you’ll decrease your chances of Periodontitis. . . . #periodontitis #systemiceffects #dentalcleanings #athomeoralhealth #oralhealth #oralhealthknowledge #links #langleydentist #brushandfloss #yourfriendlyneighborhooddentist

What is gingivitis? Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums due to plaque (bacteria buildup) which is mostly caused by inadequate brushing and flossing. It is the most common type of gum disease where 7 out of 10 Canadians will develop gingivitis in their lives. It all starts when plaque sticks to the edge and below your gumline. Plaque starts forming 4-12 hours after you stop brushing and flossing. If plaque is not removed daily by brushing and flossing it hardens into tar...tar/calculus, which can only be removed by dental professionals. Gingivitis is prevalent when gums bleed upon flossing and even brushing. They look puffy or spongy in texture they may or may not be painful in general. Though it may be sensitive when flossing or brushing. Overtime, this multitude of bacteria can cause progress to what’s called Periodontitis which involves boneloss which can result in tooth loss. Good news, gingivitis is reversible and even preventable. How? You may ask. Regular dental cleanings, whether that’s a 4 or 6 month schedule for example, or whatever your dentist or hygienist recommends. But you have to do your due diligence as well. That includes flossing once a day and brushing twice a day(be sure to reach the gumline) with proper techniques. If you absolutely hate flossing though, @waterpik works amazing to help get your gums in tip-top condition. Health gums look pink and firm and contour each tooth shape securely. Oral hygiene protects more than just your teeth. Oral health is overall health. #oralhealth #oralhygiene #flossing #brushyourteeth #gumhealth #gingivitis #healthygums #langleydentist #mouthhealth #waterpik #dentallife #spreadtheknowledge #athomeoralhygiene

Would you get want to get tested for oral cancer if you had the opportunity to get early warning if you have this disease or not? Even though oral cancer doesn’t seem as common as other strains of cancer 1150 people die from oral cancer in Canada every year. There are on average 3400 cases every year and men are 2x more likely to get it than women. At Ethos Dental Studio every bi-annual cleaning Dr. Mangat performs a cancer screening on all our patients. This includes looking... for any red and white patches within the mouth, palpating/ feeling around the mouth, and even the throat for what she says any lumps or bumps that shouldn’t be there. Oral cancer can strike in a number of places including the tongue, lips, gums and cheeks. If you yourself notice any ulcers which don’t heal within three weeks, red and white patches in the mouth, lumps or swelling in the mouth, head or neck area, be sure to get checked out. Early detection is crucial because most of the time oral cancer isn’t detected until it’s in a late stage. Even though April is oral cancer awareness month, which has only just passed, we should be aware of oral cancer more often than not. #oralcancerawareness #oralcancer #cancer #april #langleydentist #walnutgrovedentist #bcdentist #beaware #getchecked #earlydetection #wecare #cancerscreening #stayhealthy #informed #knowwhattolookfor

COVID-19 Update

Ethos Dental Studio 17.04.2020

Hi all! As the COVID-19 continues to challenge us as a community, I wanted to reach out and update you all on our current situation. Ethos Dental Studio, being a dental clinic, continues to follow our hospital grade sterilization, disinfection and sanitation protocols in place for all patients and in our clinical setting.... For heightened safety, all non-clinical areas of the Studio (our door handles, restrooms, front desk, waiting room furniture, etc) are also being cleaned with the same hospital grade disinfectant every hour. We have asked our patients, and any staff, to stay home if they are feeling unwell. If it is a dental EMERGENCY, and you are feeling unwell, please call us. I will triage your case on the phone and determine what protocol should be followed. Moving forward, we will continue to monitor the situation and adhere to the recommendations set out by BC Health, WHO and the BC Government. On a small business owner note, if we are ordered by the provincial government to shut down, I've decided to do my part and make sure my staff is able to receive a partial pay cheque to tide over their families and themselves during a potential closure. Living is BC is a privilege, but we all know the cost of living is high. The team at Ethos Dental Studio is in it for the long run, with each other and for the community, and we all need to be able to support each other in this trying time. So, rest assured, we've got your back and we've got each other's back!
