Yesterday, like many others we observed #blackouttuesday. We spent the day in allyship with our black friends, neighbours, co-workers, brothers and sisters. Ra...cism has no place in our society and certainly has no place at KidsAbility. We are committed to listening and learning so that we can do better. Ending racism is an essential calling for all of us. We must all lend our voices to championing human rights. No one should have to be scared to live their lives because of the colour of their skin. We acknowledge and share the challenges and deep feelings of hurt, sadness and anger that our families and friends are experiencing in relation to recent events that have highlighted systemic racism and marginalization. We will continue to listen and learn so that we can do better. We continue to be... available through email or by phone to support family and individual needs. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us. As you know, we are committed to sharing information about community programs and events through social media, our website, and monthly newsletter. The COVID-19 response is evolving quickly and a number of community programs and events are being canceled accordingly. If you plan on attending a community event/program that you learned of though WRFN, please check with the organizer before attending. COVID-19 Update KidsAbility Suspends All Face To Face Service. ------------------------------------------------------------ Updated: Sunday, March 15, 2020 at... 4:35pm ------------------------------------------------------------ At KidsAbility our priority is for the safety and wellbeing of staff, clients and our community. Over the course of the weekend we have monitored the COVID-19 situation closely and have made the difficult decision to suspend face-to-face client visits in Centre, in homes and in community until at least April 6, 2020. No client, family or volunteer will be permitted to enter any KidsAbility site during this time. Staff who have travelled by airplane or cruise ship, who have been in an airport for a significant period of time, travelled to one of the affected countries including the United States (China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, USA), been in close contact with a confirmed or suspected case and/or have exhibited two or more of the identified symptoms are asked to self isolate and advise their supervisor. KidsAbility will work with all other staff to determine work assignments and locations as quickly as possible. All sites will be practicing social isolation protocols while this is occurring. For staff, a detailed advisory has been sent by email. Any staff unable to access this are asked to contact their supervisor to arrange for a copy to be sent to personal email accounts.
