***PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT*** Temporary Changes to Some Services at the U.S. Memorial Health Centre Eastern Health advises the public of some temporary chan...ges to health-care services at the U.S. Memorial Health Centre in St. Lawrence. These changes reduce the risk of potential COVID-19 spread at this health-care facility, isolate long-term care residents given the layout of the building and ensure the required staffing levels are available at the site. Similar plans were in place last year as we adjusted to the COVID-19 pandemic. Effective tomorrow, February 24, the following changes are: Emergency services will be available from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Individuals requiring emergency services outside of these hours should proceed to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. For emergencies, please call 911 or (709) 891-1212. Urgent medical imaging services will be temporally transferred to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. Patients previously booked for urgent medical imaging appointments at U.S. Memorial Health Centre will be rebooked at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre and will be contacted with their appointment details. Blood collection is by appointment only at the U.S. Memorial Health Centre. The hours of operation for booked appointments have been increased to Monday Friday from 8:20 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and the number to call for appointments is (709) 873-2330.This service is offered in areas of the facility separate from long-term care residents. Eastern Health apologizes for any inconvenience these temporary changes may cause. A plan will be put in place to resume services at the U.S. Memorial Health Centre once a change to the public health orders is issued by the provincial Medical Officer of Health.
