#ThrowbackThursday Club légendaire de la FLOQ Nouvelle recrue: Tamara Medwidsky... Originaire de Toronto, Medwidsky est arrivée à Montréal en 1998 avec très peu d'expérience en lutte olympique. Tamara Medwidsky a été la première lutteuse de l'Université Concordia, la première femme au sein de l'équipe de lutte de Concordia. Un défi qu'elle a relevé avec brio, avec une intensité féroce et un engagement inébranlable. Elle s'entraînait six jours par semaine avec l'équipe de lutte, les Stingers de Concordia sous la supervision de l'entraîneur-chef Victor Zilberman. Medwidsky était une athlète sérieuse et déterminée et elle s'est rapidement imposée au niveau canadien. Elle a représenté les Stingers à trois championnats canadiens de lutte universitaire, remportant des médailles d'or en 1998 et 2000 et une médaille d'argent en 2001. Medwidsky a été nommé athlète féminine de l'année à Concordia en 2000 en plus d’être nommée sur la première équipe d’étoiles niveau universitaire canadien en 2000 et sur la deuxième équipe d’étoiles niveau universitaire canadien en 2001. Tamara a participé à plusieurs championnats canadiens au niveau senior, terminant sur le podium à chaque occasion. Elle a été médaillée d'or en 1998 et a remporté des médailles d'argent en 1999 et 2003. En 1998, elle a également représenté le Canada aux championnats du monde senior en Pologne, se classant septième. Medwidsky a également été deux fois médaillée à Canada Cup. À Concordia, Mme Medwidsky a obtenu un diplôme d'études supérieures en administration du sport, en plus de compléter son MBA en 2003. Mme Medwidsky a été intronisée au Temple de la renommée des sports de Concordia en 2016. Depuis sa retraite, Mme Medwidsky travaille pour Lutte Canada, gestionnaire de la haute performance de 2007 à 2009 et directrice générale de Lutte Canada depuis 2009. Félicitations Tamara pour tous tes succès, et merci d'avoir ouvert la voie à la lutte féminine au Québec !

Le Club legendaire de la FLOQ Nouvelle recrue: Jay Bradbury Jay Bradbury est le plus ancien membre de la FLOQ. Devoue en tant qu’entraineur, arbitre, et organisateur d'evenements de lutte au Quebec. M. Bradbury a fonde la Federation de Lutte Olympique du Quebec (FLOQ) en 1971 avec Barry Nye. Il a ete president de la FLOQ de 1971 a 1973. En 1976, il a ete coordonnateur pour le Comite organisateur des Jeux olympiques (COMO) a Montreal. Il a organise et d...irige les competitions de lutte aux Jeux olympiques de Montreal de 1976 et l'epreuve pre-olympique en 1975. M. Bradbury est encore activement implique comme entraineur pour l'equipe de lutte de Riverdale. Son tournoi Invitation Riverdale est organise a tous les ans et ce depuis 1969 et le Quebec Open depuis 1981. De 1975 a 1990, il a egalement organise le Montreal Open. En 2013, M. Bradbury a ete intronise au Temple de la renommee de Lutte Canada. Son devouement a cette discipline a permis le developpement de la lutte au Quebec et a un grand nombre de lutteurs quebecois de s'epanouir! Three members of the Concordia @the_stingers wrestling program have been awarded Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals recognizing their significant contributions and achievements as Canadians. All-Canadian @davitrem and assistant coach Martine Dugrenier were honoured as athletes. Both represented Canada at the 2012 Summer @olympics in London last August. They received their medals from Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Ottawa last S...eptember. Tremblay just completed his last year with the @concordiauniversity wrestling program. He won his fifth gold medal in as many years when the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (@usportsca ) wrestling championships were held at Western University in March. Tremblay earned first team CIS all-Canadian honors for his efforts and was named the outstanding male wrestler in CIS. @martine.lutte67 finished her university wrestling career in 2004. She continued to train and went on to represent Canada at several World Championships, winning gold medals in 2008, 2009 and 2010, and two Olympic Games. During that time she also began coaching the Stingers’ young wrestlers. In early 2013, it was announced that Concordia head coach Victor Zilberman would receive a medal as well. He was recognized for significant contributions to coaching through the National Coaching Certification Program. He was among 49 outstanding individuals who were selected for their leadership in coaching development. Zilberman has run the Concordia wrestling program since 1977. He has guided his athletes to 63 gold medals and eight team titles at the nationals. Since 1980, Concordia has won 131 medals. In addition nine Stinger athletes have been named the outstanding wrestler at the CIS tournaments, and Zilberman has been named Coach of the Year on five occasions - in 2012, 2011, 2006, 1986 and in 1984. The commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. During the year-long celebrations, 60,000 deserving Canadians will be recognized.

#Throwback Thursday! Aux Jeux du Canada 2017 a Winnipeg, au Manitoba, L'equipe du Quebec a remporte 5 medailles individuelles: une du cote feminin et qu...atre du cote masculin. L'equipe masculine a battu l'Alberta pour la medaille de bronze au tournoi par equipe. Cette medaille de bronze etait la toute premiere medaille pour l'equipe de lutte du Quebec aux Jeux du Canada. Club legendaire de la FLOQ, Nouvelle recrue : Equipe de lutte de @the_stingers de 1986 L'equipe de lutte de @concordiauniversity de 1986 s'est distinguee a une epoque ou le programme Stingers etait exceptionnellement puissant et dominant sur le circuit universitaire. Les lutteurs de l'entraineur-chef Victor Zilberman ont remporte cinq championnats nationaux consecutifs de la ligue universitaire Canadienne entre 1986 a 1990.... En 1986, lors des championnats canadiens universitaires organises par l'Universite Mount Allison a Sackville, au Nouveau-Brunswick, Concordia a remporte neuf medailles dans les 12 categories de poids. Le decompte des medailles comprenait cinq medailles d'or de Doug Yeats, Pat Sullivan, Graham Dadswell, Sylvain Marcil et Serge Marcil. Les medailles d'argent etaient Mike Sullivan, Sean O'Heaney et Mike Enos. Bob Watson a aide l'equipe a marquer des points avec une medaille de bronze. Avec 36 points, Concordia s'est classee devant de nombreux programmes accomplis lors du tournoi, en deuxieme place l'Universite de Saskatchewan et en troisieme place l'Universite McMaster. La marge de victoire des Stingers etait de 15 points, ce qui etait a l'epoque la plus grande marge enregistree lors des championnats canadiens universitaires. Sylvain Marcil a remporte l'or chez les 86 kilos et a ete nomme meilleur lutteur des championnats canadiens universitaires. FLOQ Legendary Fight CLub Mr. Rob Dawson (born December 4, 1963 in Windsor, Ontario) attended Concordia University (BA 90) and wrestled for the Montreal Wrestling Club in the late 80’s and early 90’s. During this period Dawson dominated Canadian competition and was one of the top international wrestlers in the world. Rob won 4 Gold medals for Concordia in 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1992. Additionally, Dawson represented Canada at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, at 60...kg and finished in 8th place. Club legendaire de la FLOQ Nouvelle recrue : Pat Sullivan Pat (Patrick) Sullivan a commence la lutte a l'adolescence, a l’ecole secondaire). Apres l’ecole secondaire, il a frequente l'universite @concordiauniversity a Montreal, ou il a ete intensivement encourage dans son sport.... Au cours de sa prestigieuse carriere, et ces cinq annees a l'universite @the_stingers , Patrick Sullivan a remporte plusieurs medailles et honneurs en lutte. Au niveau universitaire, Il a remporte une medaille d'or honneurs All-Canadian au championnat de l'Union sportive interuniversitaire canadienne a chacune des annees ou il a participe a la competition - 1982 puis 1984-1987. Il a egalement ete nomme meilleur lutteur au championnat de l'USIC en 1985, ce qui est la plus haute distinction qu'un lutteur puisse obtenir au niveau universitaire. Les efforts de Pat ont permis a Concordia de remporter le championnat national quatre annees de suite, de 1984 a 1987. Il a egalement ete nomme athlete masculin de l'annee de l'universite Concordia en 1985. M. Sullivan a ete intronise au temple de la renommee de Concordia en 2000. Pat etait un membre accompli de l'equipe nationale, representant le Canada lors de grandes competitions internationales comme les Jeux panamericains et la Coupe du monde. Il a ensuite remporte une medaille de bronze aux championnats du monde de 1985. Le succes de Pat a ete reconnu par la communaute nationale de lutte lorsqu'il a ete intronise au Temple de la renommee de la lutte @wrestlingcanada en 1996. FLOQ’s Legendary Fight Club New Inductee: Mike Sullivan Mike Sullivan is one of Quebec's most accomplished varsity wrestlers. ... He is a four-time All-Canadian and a four-time medalist at the Canadian Interuniversity @usportsca wrestling championships. He won a gold medal in 1987 and silver medals from 1984-1986. In 1984, he was named the outstanding wrestler at the university championship which is the highest honor one can earn at the @usportsca level. In each of his four years, @the_stingers won the team title at the nationals. Mike was also named @concordiauniversity Male Athlete of the Year in 1987. He was successful at the @wrestlingcanada national and international levels as well. Mike won a number of medals at Canadian wrestling championships and finished fourth at the Junior World Championships. He was also the recipient of a prestigious @petrocanada @olympics Torch Scholarship. Mike devoted a lot of time to developing young wrestlers in Montreal. He was a coach at @loyolamontreal and Concordia, and assisted with the administration of the Montreal Wrestling Club. In 2000 Mike Sullivan was inducted into the Concordia Sports Hall of Fame. FLOQ’s Legendary Fight Club! Wyatt Wishart Wyatt Wishart started wrestling at Thunder Bay’s Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute. A star athlete at Thunder Bay’s Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Wyatt shined both on the football field and the wrestling mat during the 1970s. Following in his father Sherry’s footsteps in football, Wyatt twice earned Outstanding Junior Linesman awards from Westgate, played middle guard for Concordia University and signed a c...ontract with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL in 1981. It was in the sport of wrestling, however, that Wyatt would leave his mark on the international sporting scene competing successfully in Greco-Roman, freestyle and sambo classes for close to 10 years. In 1976 he earned what would be his first of 8 Canadian wrestling titles competing in the 220 lb. (100 kg) and Heavyweight classes at the junior and senior levels. An exceptional master of Judo Wyatt also earned Quebec and Canadian team championships in this sport. Representing Canada on the international and world stages starting in 1977, Wyatt’s abilities truly shone, earning two gold medals at the Pan-Am Junior Wrestling Championships and a bronze at the World Junior Freestyle Wrestling Championships that year. Wyatt captured two gold medals for Concordia University in 1979 and 1980 at the 100+ kg. Wyatt continued to represent Canada with distinction earning three World Cup bronze medals (year), two more Pan-Am Junior Wrestling gold medals 1977, a bronze medal at the 1979 Pan-American games and a gold medal at both the 1978 and 1982 Commonwealth Games.
