Yay to Liard Hot Springs opening tomorrow - Message from BC Parks: "On May 1st, the Liard River Hot Springs campground and springs will be open. While park staff look forward to welcoming you back to the park, please be mindful of the new COVID-19 policies that will be implemented for the 2021 operating season:... A limited number of people will be allowed in the hot springs at one time. Currently the limit is set to 40 people. All visitors must sign up at the day-use gatehouse for a specific time slot to use the springs. Time slots are currently 1 hour each. o Please note that you may need to wait for an available time slot. Anyone feeling ill or those who have been exposed to the virus should not travel to the park. Hand sanitizer will be available and is encouraged to be used. COVID-19 protocols may shift throughout the season please be respectful of all posted signage and directions from staff. Travel restrictions set out by the Provincial Health Officer are currently in place until May 25th. All British Columbians are to stay local and avoid non-essential travel. Snowfall warning for Fort Nelson -A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected. A Pacific storm will approach British Columbia tonight and Tuesday. Heavy snow will begin tonight over the Peace region then spread to Fort Nelson Tuesday morning. It will continue through Tuesday night giving total accumulations ranging from 15 to 25 cm. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
