Just a reminder that families have another week to log into the Parent Portal to indicate whether they’d like their children to learn in person or virtually for next year! Picture 2 here has a website to get some Parent Portal help!
In honour of the International Day of Silence, some of our youngest Phoenix learners joined in a reading of I am Jazz to help understand the importance of honouring and supporting those in the LGBTQ+ community. Students wrote messages of love for others and self-appreciation to conclude a week’s worth of discussions on being brave. Way to go Phoenix! You are all loved and everyone is loved here! #ddsbequity #ddsbwellbeing #dayofsilence
FVPS community - please note that as of today, families have the ability to set their learning preference for their elementary children for next year via the Parent Portal. This is open until May 4.
Even though we are teaching and learning virtually, we are still very grateful (and thankful and amazed and...) for Mrs. Beer and all of the things that she does for our school! A happy Administrative Professionals’ Day to her, and all of the admin. professionals throughout the @ddsbschools!
Welcome back after April Break, Forest View! Of course we’d prefer to be in person, but staying home and staying safe is most important right now, and we’ll be glad to connect online! Enjoy a full day of learning today and beyond, and to those essential workers in our community who are not able to stay home, thank you for all that you do! Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
Forest View remembers. With no ceremony this year, staff and students will be observing Remembrance Day in their classrooms, with a moment of silence, The Last Post, etc. just before 11:00 and learning about those who served, fought, and died throughout the day. Thank you. Lest We Forget. (Poppy Photo from legion.ca)
Just a reminder that families interested in booking virtual (phone or video) conferences with their child(ren)‘s teachers, you have until 11 PM on Nov. 11 to do so. Conferences are Thursday evening and Friday AM. Please visit https://fvps.parentinterview.com and use the password that was emailed out from the school last week to book. As of today, intermediate families may also book times with rotary teachers as well. If you have any questions please reach out to the office!
Hey Grade 7 and 8 students and families! Copy and paste the following website to find out how the Durham Health Department is doing the vaccines that usually happen in schools this year! You can find the information on what vaccines are available, where and when, and how to sign up for a time. https://www.durham.ca//health-and/child-immunization.aspx
There were celebrities at Forest View today after school! Mrs Hack and Mr Allum - and many others - were thrilled to meet the Martians this afternoon, and very much appreciate the joy they brought to the community on a Friday! Thanks Martians - Yip-yip, uh-huh to you!!
Just a reminder to students and our community, that this Friday we will be having black and orange day here at Forest View. Out of respect for safety and differing beliefs, we have always done a black and orange spirit day instead of Hallowe’en costumes, parties, parades, etc. This year with COVID 19, prioritizing safety and equity is more important than ever. Students may still be engaging in some fall or even Hallowe’en-related activities which are connected to the curriculum in their classrooms. We look forward to seeing students in their black and orange this Friday, and thank you for your ongoing support.
